Naval Air Station Pensacola was placed on lockdown Friday morning amid reports of an active shooter, the Navy said. Both gates were secured, the base said on Facebook — though the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office soon announced that “there is no longer an active shooter on NAS Pensacola. The shooter is confirmed dead.”

Little other information was immediately available about the incident at the military facility in Florida. The sheriff’s office did not say whether there were additional casualties.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said its Pensacola field office was responding to the base. “A search of buildings is being conducted; no word yet on injuries/ victims,” the ATF said on Twitter.

The installation, which hosts 16,000 military personnel and more than 7,000 civilians, is known as the “cradle of Naval aviation.” It’s home to the Navy’s Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron and is the first stop for training to become Naval pilots or flight officers.

The active-shooter reports came just two days after a gunman opened fire at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam near Honolulu, killing two and injuring a third before shooting and killing himself. The shooter in that incident was identified as an active-duty U.S. Navy sailor and his three victims as civilian Defense Department employees working on the base’s shipyard.

Good thing the shooter's dead, at least.

Another day in America, where nobody really wants to do anything about anything. Until maybe their kid's the one who's dead.

Just a reminder of DUI Dooshnozzle Matt Gaetz trying to muzzle the parents of Florida children who were slain by guns. Of course the privileged bastard howled like a weasel when a Florida woman righteously tossed her drink in his ugly lying face.

My husband's disgusted reaction when we awoke to the news first thing this morning:

"I think it’s time for every man woman and child in this country to own a gun. Just tell the NRA, ‘OK, you won.’”

Obviously he doesn’t mean it, but it’s just so frigging discouraging.

Everyone is discouraged. That's why 'Kill The Rich' is catching on.

Doesn't that play right into Trump's "no more Muslims" hand?

Not really, Linda, although I doubt he knows or cares about the difference.

Sunni Versus Shiite Conflict Explained
The True Cause of All Middle East Conflicts

BY KIMBERLY AMADEO Updated June 04, 2019

The two major powers in the Middle East are Saudi Arabia, an Arab population ruled by a Sunni majority, and Iran, a Persian population ruled by a Shia majority. These two groups have been at odds for centuries. In modern times, the split has fostered battles for power and resources.

The conflict between Sunnis and Shiites is often portrayed as strictly about religion. But it's also an economic battle between Iran and Saudi Arabia over who will control the Strait of Hormuz. That's a passage in the Persian Gulf through which 20% of the world's oil passes..."

The families of the victims of 9/11 are suing the Saudis.  Jamal Kashoggi was likely killed because he had allied with the families and was really to "spill the beans".  Why we're training Saudi pilots today is a question for the ages.

"No more Muslims" except for the Saudi's who have long time ties to the Kriminal in Chief. Great idea FT. America doesn't need another 911 but if God forbid, it does happen again, Bone Spur will declare war on the Ukraine or maybe Canada because it is closer. Twisted Evil
