I have been invited to a private poker game on Wed, and it will be the first time I have been able to play poker since the super bowl weekend. I have been resting for two days, and think I can do this. I would like to go in the early afternoon to the casino I have played and play an hour or so there before going to the private poker game. Most people have thought I have passed as I have not visited the poker room since November. I am going to take pain pills to ease the bone met pain, but expect it will be worth the week of constipation if I can have fun for a couple of hours and not be in constant pain. I appreciate the invitation because as much as most people act so happy to see you when you are sick, they become uncomfortable when they see a general decline.

My wife will be returning from Florida on Tuesday night, and her girlfriends from high school have a thing they call breakfast club, and about 12 of them are traveling to Starved Rock State Park to enjoy breakfast and the trails which run along the Illinois river. Most of these girls were friends from before kindergarten, and most of the ten or so I will be playing poker with have been friends for over thirty years. It is very important to cherish your friends and share life's adventures. My wife just sent me a photo from our project in Florida where she is cleaning up the poison Ivy around the Live Oak Trees, and I already miss the beautiful area we have carved out of a jungle.

It was a jungle. It took years to get it where we have it now. It is stunning in the spring time. My greatest hope is that people will get to enjoy it years after I am gone.

My wife just joined me in Illinois. I had weakened quickly and had to attempt to get the bobcat and dumptruck home before I could not drive the multi stop trip. Well, she had cleaned up around the Live Oak trees and again this year she got poison Ivy. It is strange. I used to get horrible cases of poison Ivy in my youth and until I got sick. With my immune system compromised my reaction to poison ivy is usually a couple of days and the skin lesions are almost non existent because my body does not fight the invading oils on the surface of my skin, and with some aspirin as an anti inflammatory, some topical treatments which include rinsing the area with Witch Hazel, and then using over the counter Ivy treatments I get rid of a poison Ivy incident in about a week. As a kid, I remember suffering literally for three or four weeks after getting poison Ivy.

The funny thing is when we first got married she would give me a hard time about the reaction I had to poison Ivy, and she told me she was Immune to poison Ivy. I just chuckle each year when she is dealing with her poison ivy and remind her that it must be something else, because you know......you are immune to poison ivy.

She is off to her breakfast club this morning, and I am going to make the hour plus drive to my office, the casino to play some poker, and then at 6pm to play some poker with my friends, and I just do not think I will have the energy to make it through the day but I also realize that this could be the last time I get to do this, so you just grit your teeth a little bit and get it done. I never realized how much work was involved in having fun.

Go get em. I like to do something early where i get caught w nothing for about 40 or 50ish. You'll get paid for the rest of the session... lol. Disclaimer: I'm not an expert cash game player. I just play for fun once or twice a year while drinking. I usually come out ahead tho.

When I was in the Army going to school, we used to play a lot of poker. Some games went on for the entire weekend if we did not have KP,Guard duty, etc. Played on top of 2 foot lockers cover with a Blanket. Nickel, dime, with 3 raise limit. Pretty soon you got a idea of how people played so you could bet accordingly. Biggest loser were people who just dropped in for a couple of hands. I never won a lot but I seem to break close to even. I REALLY hate to lose so I don't gamble a lot. I saw some people loss a lot of money, maybe that was a lesson to me. My weakness is Craps!! I have to stay away from it because I know I can win. LOL That is a BIG error in judgment. Once I won 4,000 dollars in a house game many years ago..I haven't played in years but I all ways stand to long at the Craps table at the casino. My Father in Law was big time gambler. Loved the horse as he was from Chicago. We used to go the Fair grounds in New Orleans with a group on in laws, I was all ways the "Runner" went to buy and cash tickets, get food, etc. when they won they would always tip me something crazy. Most of the time I had much more money than them on the way back home. I really never told my wife and she was all ways asking "Why do you go with them to the Horse track? You don't gamble." LOL It was a lot of fun but it sure caused a lot grief for his family when he was on a losing streak..

I grew up at the racetrack.

Once when I was like 8-10 years old, I was sick and had to miss school. My Mom had some type of commitment and couldn't watch me, so my Dad took off work. As soon as she left the house, he got me dressed and we headed to the Churchill Downs grandstand. I was told, "Don't tell Mom about this.". I've kept that secret til this day.

When I was 21, I went to the infield of the Indy 500. When I got out of the van I was confused because I couldn't find the parimutuel windows.

It was fun reading this thead. I won $300. Not the right way. I lost $200 playing the worse poker players at a country club I used to belong. I then went to the casino and lost another $400 playing poker, where my discomfort and decline make me now the worse poker player at the table. So I am down $600 on what was a fun night our after not being at this casino in four months. So as I am leaving, I sit down at a new carnival game they have called flush. I am really hurting by this time as my bone mets on my spine, and the achilles tendon after four weeks in bed are killing me from the walking. I put $15 in the bonus for a flush of four cards or more being dealt to me, and I put $15 down on the bonus that I can get at least a three card straight flush from my seven cards dealt to me. I get the 8-9-10-Jack of clubs and it pays one to one or $15 on the flush, but 60 to one on the straight flush bet and I win my ante of $30, $15 on the flush, and $900 on the straight flush. I stay a little longer, but then decide it almost feels better to leave even after being so far down for the total evening, and instead I am up $300. By the time I got home with an hour and a half drive it was 4 am and I had proceeded to over do it and have not been posting, but it still has not stopped me from working on my new project.
