I guess we can wait for the Pearl Harbor style attack by the Chinese before we talk about their massive military expansion and the spreading of their sphere of influence through the man made island chains built that are fully weaponized.

From your cited link: "Times. Obama administration officials and some experts say "great power competition" inaccurately frames the U.S. and China as on a collision course, but other experts warn that China's ship building, man-made islands and expansive claims in the South and East China seas are hostile to U.S. interests."

Right. What the Chinese are doing is "hostile to U.S. Interests." Whenever you see the descriptive "U.S. Interests" you need to recognize it means U.S. business interests. China's biggest moneymaker and the basis of its recent economic growth is its massive manufacturing capacity, fed by American purchasing power. Neither China's nor America's leaders seek to threaten that productive arrangement.

Only deluded war-mongers like General Peedawg, want us to go to war with China because of that country's increased military growth.

Get real you sick wanna-be war hero. We can't decisively fight a war with goat herders in Afghanistan, and you want us to take on China because it's military power is growing? Tell us how China is a logical enemy to the United States, we're all ears.

We're not going to take on China, China is taking on us.

Thanks to former President's Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, China now has control of the ports at both ends of the greatly expanded Panama Canal.  They also control the largest port on the West Coast, the Long Beach port.  They are expanding a port in the Bahama's for deep draft ships which border an airport with a 13,000-foot runway.

China is racing forward with the construction of submarines capable of launching torpedoes and rockets.

China is building islands with ports and airstrips in the disputed China Sea.

We're not going to attack China, nor will China attack us.  The direction we are going now will result in our simply turning over the keys.

That sentence is as convoluted as your thinking. Care to try it again?

China is expanding south and will choke off the sovereign trade routes of Pacific countries.

At some point that will lead to conflict. This ain't rocket surgery.

Any who can create the phrase "this AIN"T rocket surgery," wouldn't be capable of knowing rocket surgery if they fell into the Space Surgery Center .. LOL

Does China seek to dominate the western Pacific region and protect it's "National Interests" yes, just like we try to do EVERYWHERE. Does this mean that China would ever run a blockade to prevent a Pacific country from conducting trade? No, and neither would we ... because to do so would, from an international standpoint, be an act of war. And
China isn't about to go to war with it's most significant buyer.

We need to stop listening to frightened war mongers like Peedawg, our wannabee military hero, and start building and using our economic power to achieve diplomatic goals, instead of using our dreadful, winless military every week or so!

What an idiot you are Peedawg. Why in hell would China execute a Pearl Harbor style attack on its most significant source of income? You are a paragon of fear mongering. Relieve the stress little boy. Go buy another rifle. LOL

The greatest gift ever given to the Chinese and Russians was George W. Bush's GWOT and his senseless invasion of Iraq.  It killed a bunch of Americans, beat-up loads of our equipment, aircraft, and troops, and cost $trillions.

The Iraq war secured China's future oil supply, paved the way for ISIS and more Middle East instability, and did not make us safer or stronger. If I were the Chinese, or the Russians, the Dumbass Bush would have been one of my faves, for all he did for them

But you have no issue with the China/Russia policies under Obama. You know... the current events.

"I don't think you can criticize the President for trying to act on the belief that they have a substantial amount of chemical and biological stock. . . . That is what I was always told," Clinton said.
- Former President Clinton Wednesday, April 16, 2003

"Could Be One of the Great Achievements of This Administration" The vice president said he’d been to Iraq 17 times and visits the country every three months or so. "I know every one of the major players in all the segments of that society" he said. "It's impressed me. I've been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences."
- Vice President Joe Biden (D) Feb. 10, 2010

How has the war President Barack Hussein Obama said we SHOULD have been fighting going? How is the Middle East going now that President Obama is President? Oh, Afghanistan just crossed 2,330 American fatalities. Seventy percent of whom died since President Obama took office.

And now the Obama administration wants to TAKE CREDIT for the Iraq war…whew….

You're the only one that's brought up war. Nice capitulation.

Suggest you go back and really read the thread, particularly where Peedawg claims China will give us a Pearl Harbor type attack.

I'll make it easy for you, here's the statement: "I guess we can wait for the Pearl Harbor style attack by the Chinese before we talk about their massive military expansion and the spreading of their sphere of influence through the man made island chains built that are fully weaponized."
