The best Christmas parties are the ones you don't remember leaving.

Well, if that is how you have to entertain yourself, I feel sorry for you.

That is how I used to entertain myself. My wife's teacher Christmas parties started with punch which you thought was innocent, but by the end of the night you had better have a designated driver. Way too much fun. I was getting these young teachers sitting on my lap trying to make my wife jealous and blowing in my ear......oh the rumors in the teacher's lounge.....I didn't remember half of it, and my company Christmas party two fold more intoxication and stupidity.........the question was how embarrassed could you be the next day......Merry Christmas meant something.....now I do not drink......but the Christmas cookies are great.....and nobody is sitting on my lap and blowing in my ear anymore. damn!

I know a person that went to a company Christmas party, They were not a drinker but got caught up in the festivities and drank. They were stopped by police less than a mile from their home. They blew a 1.3 and spent 10 hours in jail and may lose their job with the company that supplied the liquor. Their insurance will triple, and they will spend a lot of money in fines and court costs. Happy Holidays santa

My wife and I had strict rules on who would be the designated driver. The designated driver was allowed to have two drinks early in the party. Based on my volume of blood I could have three. I got to the point that I enjoyed myself so much with just three drinks, that it kind of became my standard regardless if I was the designated driver. I had my adult kids tell me this past summer that they do not ever remember me being intoxicated growing up....they remember their mother however having too much too drink which meant that most of the time I was the designated driver....but when I was not.....I could be just as stupid as everyone else.

I'm fortunate enough to work for a company that basically buys one of the best restaurants in town for the night.  It shuts down for our christmas party.  Free unlimited food and alcohol.   You can literally walk up to the bar and just make something up.  "Give me a vodka, tequila, and rum mixed with gatorade".  And then you can say "Who else wants a vodka, tequila, and rum mixed with gatorade?" and every will raise their hand, because it's free, unlimited, and it's a fun christmas party at an awesome restaurant.

Plus I had the opportunity to meet people that I deal with on a daily basis, but that live elsewhere.  My company has locations in Spain and Switzerland, and those employees where at the christmas party.  Great night.

My wife drove.  We make a great team.

I am glad you work for a great company, Boards, and that they would do this for their employees. It means that your employer had a successful year in 2014, and that they are poised for a good year in 2015.

Oh gosh I don't drink at all -- maybe if I could find a drink where I don't smell the alcohol , last time I drank was New Years and I felt really bad the next day and I told everyone it would last me through the year and it did , Now the husband wants to go to the Pelican drop again wheew I don't know -But if I go I will probably stand in front of New Your Nicks I think its called and I know I will drink that night if I even go. But I don't want to drink like I did last year - I took pics with everyone out there Laughing I talked with everyone out there drinks were flying so yea if I go I drink once a year, If I don't go then I probably will save myself a headache and be good for another year Razz

I never drink when I'm home alone. But I do like to do occasional binge drinking when I'm socializing with other drinkers so I can relate.

But be careful. I was at a drinking Christmas party at a private home several years ago. It was a relatively warm night and we were gathered on the patio outside beside a chiminea and really feeling no pain.
I got up to go inside to take a leak, and when I walked into the house, I walked right into the decorated Christmas tree. And as the tree and me were going down, my head scraped down the side of a brick fireplace.
The top of my head looked like a meat salad.
Luckily the amount of alcohol I'd consumed acted as a pain killer. But I would have preferred not to have gone through the embarrasment of the whole episode.
