So the % of uninsured Americans over the age of 18 fell from 18% to 13.4%.



Step 2:  http://www.google.com/search?q=us+population

The US population is 316.1 million

We will need to convert this to the % that is over 18.

316.1 (1 - 0.233) = 242.4 million



Step 3:   Do some math

242.4 million (0.180) = 43.6

242.4 million (0.134) = 32.5



Step 4:  Do some more math

43.6 million - 32.5 million = 11.2 million


We can conclude one of two things from this.  Markle is laughing because either 1) He knows that Wordslinger's numbers were understated and that in reality more than 10 million people gained insurance as a result of the ACA or 2) Markle is an idiot, completely incapable of grade-school level math.

I leave the reader to draw their own conclusions.  

In the meantime, Markle, go ahead and queue up your Socrates image and make some sort of reference to desperation.

You should really learn to read at some point in your life.  We're discussing the ACA and its impact on the uninsured.  Wordslinger pointed out that 10,000,000 people gained insurance as a result of the ACA.  You laughed at that figure.  I did the math for you and showed you that it is actually understated.  More than 10,000,000 people gained insurance as a result of the ACA.

Now here you are deflecting and trying to change the subject to percentage the point change in the rate of uninsured Americans during Obama's presidency.  These are two different subjects.  But since you clearly concede that you were wrong on the 10,000,000 figure, I'll go ahead and oblige you on this new subject change as well.

Yes, Markle.  The rate of uninsured Americans has fallen by 2 percentage points since Obama took office.  Oddly enough, you feel a fall of 2 percentage points means that this data point "skyrocketed".  

15.4% - 13.4% = 2.0%

One more time.  In the same sentence that Markle concedes that rate of uninsured Americans has fallen, he goes on to state that it has also skyrocketed.

Can you sort this out for us Markle?  Which is it?  Did the situation improve it did it skyrocket?
