A Modest Proposal, is a Juvenalian satirical essay written and published anonymously by Jonathan Swift in 1729. Swift suggests that the impoverished Irish might ease their economic troubles by selling their children as food for rich gentlemen and ladies.[2] This satirical hyperbole mocks heartless attitudes towards the poor, as well as Irish policy in general.

You see haters have existed throughout history as poor people and their children have always been blamed by the privileged and fortunate ones........sorry the little brown bags of diseased garbage will be disposed of properly and we will not eat them. give it a rest.....never!

Yep, wouldn't it have been better to stay located where they were rather to endure this? Read the whole article.

It would have been better during the Reagan administration to allow democratically elected central american nations deal with the oppressive oligarchy who controlled all the land in these nations and oppressed their people, but instead we supported the bad guys and death squads......we destroyed these countries protecting our multinational corporations who were in extractive industries, and the wealthy oligarchy who cut the deals with our companies.......all the horrors of the refugees hardly compare to what those death squads did to priests, teachers, and innocent people who tried to exercise democracy at the ballot box.

"lifelong republican". lol

Correct. A Dixiecrat is not a Republican.....they are the antithesis of Abe, Teddy, and Ike....The Republican Party once was the party of emanicipation, trust busters, and sending the federal troops to integrate the schools and now the Republican Party is the party of segregation, poll taxes, literacy tests, and enslavement of the former American middle class......sure the way they accomplish what they did in the fifties is more subtle and the use of the dog whistle has been perfected, but if you blow a dog whistle and are on the side of oppression you are not a Republican....you are a Dixiecrat. Republicans want what is good for business.....Dixiecrats want corrupt taxloopholes for special interests and who pays the most..........the military industrial complex and getting military bases primarily located in the former confederacy, so sadly the isolationism of the grand old party has been replaced by adventurism which feeds those military bases and the special interests who profit on war......it is not rocket science what has happened since the early 70s under the Nixon southern strategy......Proud to be a real Republican and I make no apologies to anybody....especially to somebody who thinks little brown bags of diseased garbage are less than himself because he stayed in a thirty dollar motel, put the dresser over the door, and lived off the popcorn in his pants for a week because there was a Mexican restaurant across the street.........having fun yet.

Time for a seaoat factcheck.  lol

I ate at Taco Rock,  Taco Bell and Monterrey Grill all in the past week.  My problem is not avoiding mexican restaurants, it's trying to stay out of them. lol

When I put popcorn in my pants for the movie theater,  I eat it all during the movie.  I don't "live off" popcorn and don't keep it in my pants for a week.

I haven't stayed in the motel yet.  I made motel reservations for September.

You're the only one I have ever heard use the phrase "little brown bags of diseased garbage",  and that goes for here or anywhere else.  And you've now written that phrase more than a dozen times in the last few days.

And lastly but not leastly,   if you're a "republican" then I'm the King of Sheba.  lol

I can say with certainty that I have probably donated more money to Republican candidates than 99% of the folks on this forum. When you are dying you do not want to live the remainder of your time denying reality and hurting people with policies interlopers brought to your party. I would rather drink a glass of toxic gulf water than be a Dixiecrat, and until good honest business oriented Republicans take back our party, I will attack the crazy side of my party until my departure.......it is simple.....I was a Reagan fan of trickle down and I got mine.......I was wrong. Trickle down was bad for America and it has caused the mess we are in now. Ronald Reagan was a great man, and a good man, but as good as he was in most of his foreign policy, he simply blew it in economic policy, and this nation is paying the price.

But a great man gives a path to citizenship, and Ronald Reagan was a great man.......a good man.......good to the core, just mislead in one critical area.
