Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's tweet about workers being paid 'less than the value they create' is essentially a restatement of Marx's Labour Theory of Value — here's why that's interesting

Ocasio-Cortez tweets Marx. The End is Nigh and Here's Why: Ndzm3L6

Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, "Workers are often paid far less than the value they create."

The theory suggests that economies run into trouble when workers can't afford to buy the products they are making.

Investment bank analysts at Citi, HSBC, and Macquarie are worrying over the same issue.

There are so few rich people, and so many people sharing a declining portion of wealth, that the next recession might actually be exacerbated by the inequality that low pay has created, these analysts argue.

You can't successfully run an economy based on the spending power of a tiny number of rich people.

Does she have a point? Was Marx right? Does laissez faire capitalism contain the seeds of its own destruction?

Ms Ocasio-Cortez is correct in that pure capitalism can't work forever. Eventually, the gap between the haves and have-nots will cause revolution.
That's why it needs the check of some socialistic policies that support thos on the bottom rungs of society. There has to be a safety net, and we already have that with public education, social security, medicare, Obamacare, etc. What I don't think we have enough controls on is things like drug prices, utility bills, rent stabilization, etc. Controls like that are out and out socialism, but I think they are things we need.
Ms Ocasio-Cortez is very popular with young voters, and she's good at explaining things to a point that everyone can understand them. I think she's got  great future, but I'm also very wary of both her and the rest of the new members of Congress this year. I'm afraid they may not have enough patience to understand that they aren't going to get all the change they want until the majority of Americans are ready for it. We also do not need anti-semitism in the House, no matter which party exhibits it. The older members are excited about the "young blood" in the Democratic party, but I think they need to be a little wary as well.
And I don't think you have to say you are either a capitalist or a socialist, because the best thing is a mix of the two that works. Neither are "evil" doctrines.

The sad thing is, Republicans are using the word "Socialist" as a scare tactic.

The fact is that none of the plans being talked about are truly socialist which mandates government or public ownership of the means of production.

Actually, all the lefty candidates are Social Democrats not Democratic Socialists. There's a difference, a BIG difference, but no one will point that out.
