My greatest hope is that we can all celebrate tonight at midnight, when Herr Tweeter's hair will be set afire, preceded by the lighting of two sparklers at Ebbets Field.

You gotta admit, what could be more patriotic and spectacular than seeing the Pussy Grabber's burst into awesome flames, while eating popcorn and listening to the National Anthem?

On the one hand, my pets hate the 4th because of all the fireworks noise, and that bugs me.

But on the other hand, it's necessary to do this once a year to keep the overbreeding conservative-idiot population down. Eating paint chips and deep-fried Coca-Cola syrup just doesn't kill 'em off fast enough, so a couple times a year you have to create the opportunity for fireworks-related-injuries. By next week the for-sale signs go up in my neighborhood like shoots in spring, and estate sales flourish!

Got to enjoy fireworks over the Brazos from the grass around Baylor stadium this evening with my wife, my daughter, and her beau.   We arrived late so traffic and parking sucked, we got sprinkled on, their ice cream got wet.   I wouldn't have wanted to have been doing anything or been anywhere else in the world tonight.

This Bear That Took A Dip In A Jacuzzi, Sipped A Margarita, Then Took A 2-Hour Nap Is The Hero Of Summer 2018

The true icon of summer 2018 has been found, and it is this bear that was recently spotted taking a dip in a Jacuzzi, drinking a margarita, and then passing out for a two-hour nap in a tree.

Mark Hough, who spotted the bear in his backyard in California Friday afternoon, told BuzzFeed News that he and his wife had just sat down outside for a drink when the bear showed up.

"My wife came home from work and requested a margarita, so we made a couple margaritas and went out to the pool to relax in the sun," said Hough. "Then, I heard some crackling of branches coming from my neighbor's side of the property."

When the crackling got louder, Hough walked over to investigate.

"I realized, 'Oh my, there’s a bear coming into our yard!'" said Hough. "So, I yelled to my wife to grab the dogs because they’d been laying out in the sun, and we hightailed it down to our house."

After a few minutes, he ventured back outside to see if the bear had left. He didn't see it at first — but then he looked to his right.

"And lo and behold, he was in my Jacuzzi," Hough said.

Hough said the bear was "bobbling away having fun, playing with the chlorinator and the thermometer, and grabbing the string of the thermometer and throwing it up in the air."

He stood "about 15 feet away" and started filming.

The bear was "playful" and "kinda cute, even though he’s huge," Hough said.

Eventually, the bear got out of the Jacuzzi and headed toward Hough's abandoned margarita (his wife had grabbed hers when they first ran inside because priorities).

The bear woke up and left shortly after that.

I do not like Tuesday or Wed. fourth of July dates. I like the three day weekend so people can get away. Many people stayed home because they had to work today. Labor day and memorial day are perfect for people visiting us because of a three day weekend, but not with just one day. Next year it will be Thursday which is better because people can get Friday off too with a fair employer. I simply salute the courage and genius of our founding fathers, and wonder how John Adam or Thomas Jefferson would process the child we have in the white house now.......simply a nightmare.
