Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) announced Wednesday he will not seek reelection in 2018.

"I will not be filing for re-election to Congress nor seeking any other political or elected office; instead I will be returning to the justice system," the influential chairman of the House Oversight Committee said in a statement.

Of course this would have nothing to do with Gowdy shielding Nunes and the fact that they are both connected to the Russian/bloatard scandal. My, my where will Putin find all the new puppets to replace all these republican traitors? In the red shithole states of course. Laughing

Here's the rest of the story about traitors Gowdy and Nunes.

Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy, one of the most unethical people in Congress, just resigned from the House Ethics Committee. He’s the pointy headed guy who told lie after lie after shameful lie in an attempt to falsely spin the Benghazi tragedy into a Hillary Clinton scandal. Gowdy is citing a “challenging workload” as the reason, which sounds plausible considering his key roles on two other House committees – but considering the timing, there’s a whole lot more to it.

Gowdy is the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, and he’s also serving on the House Intelligence Committee in the wake of the Devin Nunes meltdown. These are certainly more enviable positions than House Ethics Committee. But he took over House Oversight in mid 2017 when Jason Chaffetz resigned from Congress, and he’s been on House Intel since the middle of last year as well. So why wait until now to finally quit House Ethics? Let’s take a look at the last major move that committee made.

Five weeks ago, the House Ethics Committee formally cleared Devin Nunes of any wrongdoing, after a multi-month investigation. This stemmed from Nunes’ decision to toss around classified information in an attempt at protecting Donald Trump in the Russia scandal. It’s since been revealed that Michael Flynn told the Trump transition team about his illegal plot with Russia, and that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has every email sent and received by the Trump transition team. Two Congressmen who sat on the Trump transition team: Devin Nunes and Trey Gowdy.

In other words, Trey Gowdy remained on the House Ethics Committee long enough to make sure Devin Nunes was cleared. Considering that Nunes and Gowdy are both implicated in the Trump-Russia scandal, this strongly suggests that Gowdy has been trying to protect himself by trying to protect Nunes. Now that committee has cleared Nunes, there is no longer any strategic reason for Gowdy to remain on it. However, that won’t protect either of them from Robert Mueller’s criminal investigation. If they’re guilty, they’re going down in the end.

But wait, there's more...

A simmering conflict between the FBI and Republicans in the White House and Congress erupted into public view Wednesday, as the bureau sharply criticized a classified GOP memo that is critical of investigators looking into Russia's interference in the 2016 election.

In a rare public statement, the FBI said it had "grave concerns" about the accuracy of the memo, written by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee.

The memo was the product of House intelligence committee chairman Devin Nunes' (R-Calif.) efforts to scrutinize whether investigators relied on a disputed dossier — which alleges illicit ties between the president and the Russian government and was crafted with funding by Democrats — to obtain a warrant to spy on a Trump campaign aide.
