The following was lifted from a Salon article dated today:

"Here at Salon, all day every day there’s someone after him, and elsewhere online, he gets taken to the cleaners around the clock by The Daily Beast, Buzzfeed, Raw Story, Slate, Daily Kos, Huffington Post, The Nation, Mother Jones, and I don’t know how many others.

Shows on MSNBC and CNN are famously critical of Trump, from early in the morning until late at night.

And who’s on his side? Well, he’s got Fox and the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal, and Breitbart and down in the right wing weeds, Drudge and Limbaugh and the geniuses at Townhall.

That’s Trump’s world, and it’s probably why he’s on the job only a few hours every day. But from what’s in Michael Wolff’s insider-fueled “Fire and Fury,” he doesn’t spend much time relaxing. When Trump isn’t daydreaming his way through official meetings, he’s on the phone to friends and confidants complaining. Or watching TV and inhaling quarter-pounders (with cheese, no pickles, extra ketchup) and tweeting. In nearly a year as president, he hasn’t drawn a happy breath.

But why? Outside the walls of the West Wing, the world is going his way. The stock market is booming, unemployment is at near-historic lows, wages are trending up, Isis is on the ropes, they passed a huge tax cut for his rich pals, and all over the government, his minions are busy crippling regulations that protect air, water, food, medicine, banking, oil drilling and mining – hell, even nursing homes. He hasn’t scrimped on vacations. According to NBC, as of the end of 2017, out of what was then 354 days in office, Trump had spent a total of 117 days on vacation at Trump properties, and 90 of them playing golf. He spent 27 days at Trump International West Palm Golf Course, one day at Trump National Jupiter, 23 at Trump National Potomac Falls, and 39 at Trump National Bedminster. He has taken off one third of his presidency. You’d think he’d be giddy with delight.

But he hasn’t budged from the mid-30’s in approval ratings in the polls. Somewhere north of 55 percent of the public disapprove of the job he’s doing as president. He’s got Special Prosecutor Mueller subpoenaing everything from his campaign’s emails to his banking records. His son and son-in-law are being called before congressional committees and grilled about their connections to Russians during the campaign. Two of his former campaign officials are under indictment for multiple felonies, with another having pled guilty, and his former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who was by his side all the way through his campaign, has pled guilty to a felony and is telling Mueller everything he knows. In a recent interview with the New York Times, Trump said there was “no collusion” with Russia 16 times, appearing to wish away the connections that have already been proven.

He hasn’t cracked a genuine smile in public in months. Remember the photos of Trump and Melania sitting at the head table at the Congressional luncheon following his inauguration? Neither of them smiled even once. They didn’t talk to anyone or to each other — and it was the greatest day of his life! Michael Wolff found a source who told him Trump was miserable for the entire day of his inauguration. He was displeased with his shabby accommodations at Blair House, across the street from the White House, the night before. He was fighting with his wife Melania about something. When reports late in the day showed the crowds at the inauguration were sparse, Trump blew his stack and sent spokesman Sean Spicer before the press bellowing a blatant lie that they were the largest in history. It was the very first of nearly 2,000 lies Trump has told, or ordered to be told in his name, since taking office. But not even lying his way through the job of being president makes him happy."

Poor Donnie-boy ... I wish him severe chest pains the rest of the month.

So now leftist rags think they know whether he's "happy". Lol... silly comrades.

Trump Derangement Syndrome TDS is a real thing.

Please. Any educated man who confronted by the Trump dumpster fire is not deranged by simply speaking the truth. I mean the recent open meeting where Trump was trying to impress the world he was not stupid, only confirmed that he did not understand Daca policies, and in the absence of knowledge, he blurts I will sign what you give me. Any leader who cannot go to a white board and outline what he wants and not contradict himself is hardly suited to be a commissioner at a county

He just asked why are we having all these people from shithold countries come here? We need more people from Norway. Please stop your fascist apologies for this man. Our hair is not on fire, and intelligent people have had enough. This racist pig has to go.

Yeah, why should I be upset just because the Pussy Grabber with the dead rat on his head just said that people from Haiti and Africa come from shithole countries -- and what we need are immigrants from Norway.  When the President of the United States makes it clear he prefers white immigrants to black or latino immigrants, we all know where he's coming from.  Since you defend him on every count, defend his blatant racism.  We're all ears.

I wish Trump would just go away, but that is like saying that folks like Moore and sheriff Joe are not lined up to replace him. Sadly, it is a never ending battle against evil which good people must identify, and not be fooled again.

We've allowed these greedy, racist bastards to run our country far too long. It's time to take it back for all the right reasons. What made us a great country was our ability to accept and inspire all the people who came here for their talents, good character, and their desire to contribute and participate.

It was racism that destroyed millions of Native Americans when the first white and Latino settlers came to steal the country. It was racism that tore us apart during the Civil War, and it's racism that's tearing us apart again -- this time enhanced by a vile, narcissistic, unbalanced wreck who, in collusion with Russian agents, managed to steal the presidency. It's Christians vs. Jews vs. Muslims, vs. Atheists, Whites vs. Latinos vs. Blacks vs. Asians, and it's 1/10th of 1% of the ultra rich who hate and abuse the rest of us.

Sure it's the fault of all the democratic and republican politicians who have sold their souls to big business and the MIC, but it's our fault too, for letting them get away with it. No more. If we don't take our country back, it's gone.

Reality.

Apathy is not an option. We of like mind need to show up and speak up, march, vote, write, organize, run for office, win. This most recent episode spewing from the Oval Office is beyond embarrassing, it is dangerous. The country will need a deep cleaning when this group is ushered out of DC. Our image is not just being tarnished around the world it is dangerous. How far will the Republicans let us fall before they correct this unspeakable outrage?

Norway is not impressed with Drumpf, or his ambassador Pete Hoekstra:

Remember back in the Watergate/Nixon era when Congressional leaders (Republicans) went as a group to the WH and told Nixon it was time for him to resign? I am wondering, without really a sliver of hope, that the relatively huge time gap between the president's statements yesterday and any response from Congressional leaders is due to them mulling over their options. I am hoping without reason that the leaders are weighing their relationship with this administration against their ability to save what's left of their party and the damage Trump is doing. I'm wondering if they are going to go behind the scenes and have a come to Jesus talk with him? I say this realizing that Trump has no use for input from others and would never yield to the reality of the current situation but still...

I apologize for my signature line as we have gone very far beyond a mere circus. I will have to find another one.

Political apathy is always an option.   Very Happy

I know it may be hard for some of us to understand .... but there's a lot of folks out there who barely follow politics, public policy, etc other than what they see on CNN or FOX for 20 minutes after dinner each evening.   Sometimes they even vote.

Yeah.   Well, I don't see that happening.   And unless Mueller comes up with some kinda earthshaking smoking gun beyond what we've heard about so far, I don't see Trump getting impeached either.   When it comes to matters of impeachment, terms like "obstruction" and "collusion" are often in the eyes of the beholders.   It depends on how you spin it.    Anyways, may as well accept we are going to have to live with Trump for the full term ... and I'm fairly confident we will all survive it.

No doubt Kim Jong Un would like to feel the same as you about his and his country's survival under Trump.

Me too. And all those whose lives will be cut short by cancer and other diseases brought on by Trump's destruction of EPA pollution regs. And then there are the millions who have lost and will lose their healthcare insurance thanks to the Pussy Grabber. And while some or many of us will undoubtedly survive his term in office, in the long haul, how many of us will survive the destruction brought on by Trump and his climate deniers??

I should have qualified that statement by saying "for anyone who cares about the country and what this person is doing to it..."

Paul Ryan calls Trump's remarks "unfortunate" and Sen. Cotton and one other Republican senator who was at the meeting where these comments were made have suddenly claimed they have no recollection of them.

I am still waiting for a statement from Lindsey Graham. He is apparently the only adult Republican in the room that might be able to weigh in on this. As for McConnell and the rest of the so-called leadership we hear NOTHING, by which we take to mean approval or agreement? This situation is just disgusting.

Of course we've known that Trump is a racist but we would hope that the country has not lost its direction so totally. We expect very little from Trump. We hope he does not embarrass us too badly with his "best words" etc. The bar is been set very low for him. But we would expect at least some of our political leaders from the president's party to stand for American values. So far, nothing? Really?

othershoe1030

Finally we hear, sort of, from Graham:

Sen. Lindsey Graham has finally responded to reports that President Trump called Haiti and African nations “shithole countries” — but only acknowledged vaguely that the president made “comments.”

“Following comments by the President, I said my piece directly to him yesterday. The President and all those attending the meeting know what I said and how I feel,” said Graham, one of a handful of lawmakers present for the Oval Office meeting.

“I’ve always believed that America is an idea, not defined by its people but by its ideals. The American people will ultimately judge us on the outcome we achieve, not the process which led to it.”

Trump has denied reports that he said, “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” during a discussion on African and Haitian immigrants — although Sen. Dick Durbin, who was also in the room, confirmed the widely leaked comments.

Durbin says that Graham “spoke up and made a direct comment on what the president said.”

“For him to confront the president as he did, literally sitting next to him, took extraordinary political courage and I respect him for it,” he told MSNBC.

“I appreciate Senator Durbin’s statements and have enjoyed working with him and many others on this important issue,” Graham said in his statement.
