In Illinois they have four employees in the Illinois Department of Public Health processing cards which in my case took 2 months. I do not even know if this stuff will make my quality of life better, but the delay, the fingerprinting, the excessive fees, is simply the alcohol and restaurant lobbies fighting legalized pot at every turn.

I have been slipping pretty steadily for the last two months and I am now fighting a horrible cold which has settled in my chest. My wife has been bed ridden from the same for two days and both of us have had some nasty fevers. So when I drove to the dispensary which is 70 miles away, I was not in a good mood. It is located in a modern office building. They meet you outside, and bring patients in one at a time after they have ran your card. It all happened pretty quick, as I filled out the first time customer form, and met with an assistant who went over my illness and my desire not to be loopy, and just wanting to cut some of the edge off my bone met pain. As I was waiting, I saw about four young people who were all upbeat and getting their prescriptions filled and it left a very bad taste in my mouth as they seemed perfectly healthy, and were pretty mouth on top of it. However, the longer I stayed the wheelchairs came, the elderly came, and the truly sick became the majority. Who am I to judge.

I bought 200 dollars of edibles and a dropper bottle which allows me to put it right under my tongue. I just cut a cherry candy edible in half before posting this as they want me for the next two weeks to go at about half dosage until I find what is effective. I have not had any cognitive impairment as the THC in this initial chewable has less impact on the cognitive. We will see. I am going to keep a log of my endocrine cancer symptoms at the time of taking a dose, and an exact time of each dose. I will not drive a vehicle within a 24 hour period of a dose, so the next time I will drive is 2pm Friday for a poker game, as I plan to take the 2nd part of the chewable on Thursday am. I must have utmost discipline on my log, or I will simply have to stop driving. I will not endanger the public. The assistant said 6 hours is plenty of time to wait, but I want absolute safeguards in place. We will see. Not even the slightest cognitive distortion with about a half hour gone now, but a general feeling of calm and comfort. Very interesting.

Sure do like those "calm and comfort" words. Wishing you all the best, Sea. Keep us in the loop.

Hope the cold gets better. That thing's going around... pretty much everyone I know has it to some degree or another. One of the bad things that happen this time of year.

Glad you were able to get the pot. I'm almost militantly anti-drugs (I don't even drink -- it's a straightedge thing), but in this case it should be a good thing. I do have friends who use it recreationally and they don't have many bad effects from it... other than a greater tolerance for some boring music. Smile One friend has bad rheumatoid arthritis, and he gets a lot of help from it. And since you're getting the legal kind, it should be even better. The legal kind is usually stronger than the stuff people buy on the street. It will make you laid back and probably increase your appetite. And might make any Pink Floyd albums you have sound fantastic! Smile (Just for the record, I love Floyd even without using pot).

Anyway, hope it gives you some relief... and if it causes a little fun in the bargain, what the hell! Smile

Congratulations. I don't think anyone should even have to get a medical certificate for pot, but that's what the law says.
Hoping I can get one eventually as my glaucoma is very difficult to control. I've been on meds for it for 12 years now and though my sight is still reasonably good, it hasn't been easy. Lots of drops, drainage tubes in the eye, and a cornea transplant have been the results so far.

If I ever truly believe I am going blind I will not care whether the law is there or not, I'll definitely try the pot.
Well, that's not exactly the way I should have said it- I will definitely GET the pot. Have tried it before and the chocolate kind is great for pain. It also makes watching a parade a lot of fun.
Will also admit to smoking it once after having a hurricane from Pat OBriens. Not a pleasant experience as I tripped on a brick at City Park in New Orleans and broke my nose, again, for at least the third time in my lifetime.
I blame it on the hurricane though.
My god, they are delicious.

I was an early pink floyd fan. I was quite alone as their A Saucerful of Secrets album was pre popularity and one of my favorite pink floyd albums. I was not drinking or smoking pot when corporal Clegg just sent me to another place....it was magical and as straight as could be. It was released long before their mainstreet hits but to me this is the purest and near perfect pink floyd. Corporal Clegg by fall of 1970 had been worn out on that album, and NOBODY on my dorm floor had heard of Pink Floyd, but I began to notice people coming into the room and listening more and more. it does not get much better.

Corporal Clegg had a wooden leg
He won it in the war, in 1944.
Corporal Clegg had a medal too
In orange, red, and blue
He found it in the zoo.
Dear, dear were they really sad for me?
Dear, dear will they really laugh at me?
Mrs. Clegg, you must be proud of him.
Mrs. Clegg, another drop of gin.
Corporal Clegg umbrella in the rain
He's never been the same
No one is to blame
Corporal Clegg received his medal in a dream
From Her Majesty the queen
His boots were very clean.
Mrs. Clegg, you must be proud of him
Mrs. Clegg, another drop of gin.

Two hours into the half dosage, and some observations. Head is clear. Pain is not being relieved from the lung tumors, but remarkably I am feeling much more comfortable regarding the bone mets and digestive matter. I get the lung tumor because I am probably developing pneumonia and it feels like an elephant is sitting on my chest......but not as much as earlier today. An overall sense of comfort without the usual aches and pains. Very encouraging as I do not see any cognitive slippage, and my wife noted I was walking much better. This mix of gummy is good on inflammatory issues and it has had a rather pleasant reduction of the same. It will take a couple tries at this to figure out the dosage, but I have serious doubts it is going to kill the high level tumor pain, but heck just knocking off some of the background pain is a home run.

Sounds encouraging.

Bob would love this. I just watched two HBO movies....101 dalmations and 102 dalmations, and I can honestly say that I did not fall asleep and actually liked Glenn Close's portrayal, and of course some good dog situation. Going into hour four of the first trial and my background comfort levels are incredible, as the lung tumor will probably require the wife and I to visit our local doc and get some antibiotics. I hope this very comforting feeling can be duplicated, and it is not all bad to watch a movie I normally would not watch, and actually enjoy the same. My wife is testing my cognitive and sees no decline, and see a marked difference in my walking. All very good and surprising.

You are looking for relief not a chance to get high. Do you think that makes a difference?

My kids never saw me intoxicated. They pulled me aside and said dad all through our childhood we saw you drink and never saw you drunk. They both were quick to condemn Mrs. Seaoat who according to them saw her drunk about 6-7 time.....too funny getting lectured by your children. However, Mrs. seaoat knew when I exceeded my limit.....well kept from some, but not the knowing. The little bit of pot and hash I did in college did not get me euphoric or stupid, however I did have an elevation of hunger. Have not been near pot or a byproduct since 1972 when somebody handed me a joint a Moody Blues at the old slaughterhouse which held many of the key political conventions from the turn of the century, I enjoyed myself, but never had a stoned sensation from drugs until after my lung removl. I guess I am the quiet guy who keeps drinking or puffing on pot and not much reacting. I once got told by a girlfriend who later became his wife is that I no fund because I do not pass out and act stupid. I did that many times, but once I hit that threshold limit, I become invisible. I think before I go I will tell the story of me taking a set of bullhorns from behind a bar when I had drank enough to become invisible

Rumor has it that Bob had some pretty good homemade brownies...

Yep, you can't go wrong with Floyd. Good stuff! You may want to dig the old albums out and see if they sound any different with the "enhancement." Smile

Sorry you're still getting lung pain, but I'm glad the pot is providing some relief and relaxation. You're due some! Hope it'll keep helping, and hope the cold will clear up. It's hard to avoid it this time of year. Season-changes are brutal.

Second very comfortable day. The experiment continues tonight when I take a caramel .......1/3.......babysteps.....I will go all day Friday without the medical pot and note any changes in bathroom habits, pain locations, and intensity. I am sold on this so far. I knew it could not take out the tumor pain, but I was hoping it could get some of the other assorted pains which remarkably it has been months since I have had that sense of comfort.

What a joy, just to feel comfortable! Can only imagine.

Get some echinacea root (purple coneflower) and chew it.

I did not see that in their catalog. They can only sell that which is grown in Illinois. I am very positive as they really have been getting better mixes of the two key agents. I do know the muscle and bone anti inflamatory, but it is claimed it relieves the pain and my first two days would be thumbs up. They have me on enough variety I can pick and choose. I am furious that people with pain cannot get this medicine unless they are very ill and have to wait months. I could get opiates with a phone call Friday......Big Pharm hates competition.

I hear your implication, of course, but please just keep in mind that Big Pharma is made up of human beings, who all likely know and/or love someone suffering and/or dying from cancer and other painful illnesses, and they are undoubtedly not blind to the benefits of marijuana.

https://www.leafly.com/news/politics/the-top-5-industries-lobbying-against-cannabis-legalization-will

Insys Therapeutics, a pharmaceutical company that was one of the chief financial backers of the opposition to marijuana legalization in Arizona last year, received preliminary approval from the Drug Enforcement Administration this week for Syndros, a synthetic marijuana drug.

Insys gave $500,000 last summer to Arizonans for Responsible Drug Policy, the group opposing marijuana legalization in Arizona. The donation amounted to roughly 10 percent of all money raised by the group in an ultimately successful campaign against legalization.

Pot is almost free when totally legalized. Getting patents to make money on what is almost free is utter insanity of the broken American capitalist system. People going out to eat and not buying alcohol, or at least not as much is a horror story for the restaurant industry and alcohol industry. An almost free herb is an absolute threat to big pharma and the billions to make mother's little pill.

RealLindaL

I'm not saying there have been no drug companies involved in fighting medical marijuana, but I'm not sure it's right to blame the entire industry and everyone in it.  It just reminds me of people saying (and I still hear it) that Big Pharma does everything it can to actively suppress non-pharmaceutical cures for cancer. I mean they say that actual cures have been found but have been quashed by various methods of Big Pharma. I ain't buyin' it.

I can tell you that here in Michigan that we voted to legalize medical pot twice now. The first vote was nullified. The second vote was even more resounding... it then took two years to write the regulation. Then two years ago the state (w city and fed agents) began busting the dispensaries... claiming that the regs didn't specify the relationship between the caregivers and patients. Mind you... every one of the dispensaries was licenced by the state and had city or county permits. Sigh... sooo now they've been busting them all again this year. They said that every dispensary must close by 12/15 or face federal charges. Next year they plan to write new regs and then begin the application process and to licence again. Fricking nazis.

Well I'm going to step out back and burn down some tax free outlaw contraband and go to sleep. Willie and I just use it to relax.

But let me get to the point, let's roll another joint
And turn the radio loud, I'm too alone to be proud
You don't know how it feels
You don't know how it feels to be me

I only wish I had applied for a card five years ago. My comfort levels are off the charts, I have a clear head and I am amazed how all the aches and pains have been reduced to just the largest tumor pain. The bone mets.....knock on wood, are responding great to the edibles. I just got back from playing poker having last taken a half chewable cherry gummy at about 8:30 on Thursday. I drove into the poker game at 3 with an incredible clear head and still very comfortable. I am talking to everyone I know with inflammatory type pain as my arthritis just compounded the met pain in my spinal column.....now next to nothing. I am also thrilled as it appears that I am having regular bowel movements while avoiding the diaharrea to constipation which the high hormone levels of endocrine cancer really attack the quality of your life.....so far three days into the experiment, I feel great. I actually won over a thousand dollars playing that stupid carnival game at the casino while I waited to play in a cash poker game. This is going to be a shorter and shorter course, but heck......to feel comfortable and sleep well again......simply amazing. I worked on two people tonight to get their cards. Big Pharm, alcohol, and the restaurant associations can all go to hell......this THC based medicine is great for cancer patients. I am going to write my oncologist and rave on how effective the medicine has been on low to mid range pain.

Continued excellent results from the medical pot.  We spent last night at a casino hotel in the quad cities.  We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and I was walking around without leg, and feet issues.  The anti inflamatory component and non mind altering component is called CDO.  It has been a life changer.  Because Endocrine cancer causes elevated hormone levels which creates a vicious cycle of horrible symptoms, and as the hormone levels increase so does the spread of the cancer.   For 9 years I have had these horrible carcinoid syndrome moments where out of the blue the hormones attack the large intestine and I have to immediately find a bathroom, and twenty minutes later.....a repeat......an hour and a half......a repeat.  It drains you and makes quality of life difficult.   I do not have a scientific cause of why this cycle has so vastly improved, but it has.  About an 80% improvement and over a week without a sudden out of the blue attack.

Bone met pains.  It is a miracle.  These were increasingly creating in combination an intolerable background pain which the opiates could only temporarily relieve, but then it was a week of disrupted cycles.....and actually more background pain than the original issues.

I have a large marble size lung tumor between my bronchial tube and my remaining good right lung.  After a cold, or the flu, drainage fills up the lung and forms around this tumor often causing the two lung sides to temporarily fuse and collapse.   This is like an ice pick and coughing becomes very difficult because it just does not seem to dislodge the mucus in the lung.  I have eye droplets with a 2/1 CBO to THC which means it is heavy with these CBOs and little THC which impacts your cognitive.  I have been putting two droplets under my tongue every other day, and my tumor pain is gone, and when I cough, I am clearing my lung.   This could have been the natural evolution of getting over the flu, but the loss of lung tumor pain cannot so simply be explained away.

I have sent a detailed report to my oncologist strongly recommending these medicines low in THC for endocrine cancer patients.   I am waiting for a reply, but doctors are so reluctant to prescribe, and some simply think the benefits which cancer patients are reporting are placebo like responses, but I can tell you in no uncertain terms, this is no placebo effect......It is amazing.

The part which really gets me angry is that probably millions of Americans could have low cost alternatives to big pharms side effect medicines which bankrupt people if in fact they are effective.   I must say that the restaurant and alcohol industry is going to lose a boat load of money.  I never had a more pleasant and mellow dinner taking my 1/2 dose 1/1 gummy bear before dinner.   These substances should be legal for every adult in America.  The crime is the charade for the lobbyist who want to stigmatize medical pot and for that matter all pot.
