What was it Shakespeare said... "he jests at scars who never felt a wound"? Not totally appropriate, but kind of. Trump doesn't understand wars or the military. To him, it's all playing in the sandbox with plastic tanks and toy soldiers. He doesn't understand what "totally destroying North Korea" really means. There are about 26 million people there... most of whom are just innocent citizens trying to get through their day. They -- like us -- are stuck with an insecure vainglorious nutcase for a leader (which, unlike us, they don't even bear the guilt of having elected). Start lobbing bombs in there and you're going to have a humanitarian crisis that'll shove a lot of the previous biggest ones out of the history books, and will wreck America's international standing for good.
Yeah, we have to defend ourselves against aggression from North Korea, that's a given, but playing fast and loose with the war talk isn't helping a damn thing. And it's unnecessary. We have them so outmatched in any fight that there's no need for posturing. If I'm picking a fight with Mike Tyson he doesn't need to threaten me because he's secure that any resulting fight would be a joke. The United States is one big dog, and it doesn't need to make threats against a place as outmatched as North Korea. Everyone knows what would happen if they really wanted to tangle with us. Trump, however, is a weak, insecure man, and he feels a need to get in a pissing contest with lil' Kim. That only makes Kim look more important, and more of a formidable adversary. And Trump wants to provoke it because he thinks they're a perfect opponent to show off how "tough" he is.
It's pitiful.
And a military parade would not show our strength -- it'd show his insecurity. The world knows our might, we don't need to wave the guns around and wreck the paving by rolling a bunch of tanks over it. Real tough guys don't have to show off with a lot of posturing.
