As a progressive, liberal socialist, I want to personally extend my sincere thanks to you for all you do here to expose the utter lack of intellect, and accompanying disregard for justice, equality, and collective human values so prevalent with white racist, southern fried walking dead like you and your deeply outnumbered Klan. All by yourself you do more to embarrass, humiliate and expose this region's white racist, fascist trash than I or a dozen like me ever could. Keep up your good work son!

http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2017/09/15/uc-berkeley-ben-shapiro-protest-arrests/

BERKELEY (CBS SF) – A large swath of the University of California at Berkeley was shut down Thursday evening as about a thousand protesters gathered outside a speaking event by right-wing author and political commentator Ben Shapiro.

Campus officials had feared that the event could lead to similar violence that has erupted at right wing rallies and events in recent months, including just last month at Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park, where thousands of demonstrators confronted a handful of right-wing activists.

While there were some arrests—Berkeley police said there were nine—and some tense moments of confrontation, there was no violence reported. A woman was taken away on a stretcher, but campus officials said she had suffered a medical emergency and was not assaulted.

Berkeley police said the nine arrestees included four people arrested under city law prohibiting weapons in certain public parks. They were identified as 44-year-old Sara Rourke of San Francisco, 29-year-old Michael Sullivan of Hayward and 44-year-old Eddy Robinson.  Hannah Benjamin, 20, of Fremont was also arrested under that law as well as battery on a police officer.

Also arrested were 18-year-old Kerim Celik of Saratoga for disturbing the peace, 24-year-old Noe Gonzalez Gudino of Richmond for disturbing the peace and public intoxication, 21-year-old Miguel Reyes of Colton for resisting arrest, 20-year-old Jorge Cabanillas for battery and 45-year-old Darin Bauer for battery.

The greatest drama came from when a group of about two dozen students staged a protest on a walkway over the entrance to the event, where police were conducting careful screenings of ticket holders. The group hung signs that said, “UC protects fascism, not students,” and “trans lives matter here.”

The students eventually retreated back into the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union, where they used tape to write “stolen land” and “f— Carol”—directed at UC Berkeley Chancellor Carol Christ for allowing right wing speakers—on the windows.

Eventually police surrounded the room, but the demonstrators made a phone call to the group outside, who blared their conversation over loudspeakers. Students stuck inside said the police wanted them to leave two at a time, but they were fearful of being arrested.

“Let them go,” the crowd outside roared, and eventually the police relented and the entire group was allowed to leave.

UC Berkeley police Chief Margo Bennett said that she was relieved the event was held safely and largely lawfully. While the city made several arrests, campus police made none, she said.

The intense security precautions weren’t overkill in her eyes, she said, because “we wouldn’t have been doing our duty if we didn’t look at the worst case scenario.”

Campus spokesman Dan Mogulof said there are “no regrets” over shutting down Sproul Plaza, one of the campuses most active and central locations. Given the tense protests that have happened in Berkeley and nationwide recently, it was necessary to devote substantial resources to security, he said.

The resources included aid from not only city of Berkeley police but officers from the California Highway Patrol and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, most of whom were in full riot gear throughout the evening.

According to Berkeley police, there was additional aid from Oakland police, agencies in Solano County, The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, Fremont police, Citrus Heights police and Stanford University police.

The cost of putting on the event amounted to an estimated $600,000, Mogulof said.

While there were no reported injuries or property damage in these protests, Berkeley could be the scene of more demonstrations before the month is over as a full slate of conservative speakers have been announced for the so-called “Free Speech Week” beginning Sept. 24.

Right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos, whose own speaking engagement was canceled amid violent protests in February, has been publicizing the event, announcing a slate of speakers that including himself, Ann Coulter and former White House aid Steve Bannon.

Bennett said she is planning for the event, keeping up on the latest announcements and working to predict what might happen.

But Mogulof stressed that no events publicized have been confirmed, no contract has been obtained for campus venues, no insurance has been purchased and no information has been given to the Police Department.

“Time’s running out,” he said.

Take a few deep breaths and try to focus on facts. Labeling isn't proof or fact... It's a leftist tactic.

Seems like faking Antifa is a right-wing cottage industry now.

Milo Yiannopolwhogivesafuckhowhisnameisspelled brought in a bunch of "proud boys" during the first Berkley protest to dress up and trash things so he could get controversy and blame it on "black bloc" protestors. And now we're getting this stuff happening... as well as (predictably) every Trump protestor being labeled as "Antifa" because Trump supporters are desperate to get all opposition squashed. Those big crowds make them uncomfortable about the completely-awful stuff they stand for, and expose the fact that a whole lot of this country thinks they're utter garbage as human beings... so, they have to get everyone who doesn't like them labeled as "Antifa," or enlist their own to pose as Antifa and slander 'em.

Desperate times for right-wingers. They're like a dog chasing cars. They finally caught one and now they're like, "Now what?!" They can't govern worth a damn, they're getting embarrassed at the way they fell for a con man who everybody warned them about, and everything they stand for is proving to be a disaster. And, most damaging of all, the racism and bigotry they've always tried to keep quiet is coming out in the open and is sticking to them. They screwed up, bigly, and they have to find any scapegoat they can to avoid their responsibility in fouling up America. So... this is what they do.

Kinda pitiful, but, they've never been anything but. It's only growing more obvious.

Let's see "fringe groups?" Moderate republicans like Uncle Mitch and Mr. Ryan? The "deplorables?" The Neo-Nazis? Bannon's hoard? The KKK?
The anti-fa are a fringe group dedicated to destroying hate groups. They have my full support -- morally, financially, whatever. Give me three good reasons why a Neo-Nazi or anti-Semite shouldn't be beaten to death at their next public assembly ....

The best reason I can think of right off is that antifa can't even identify their targets...

and apparently the rest of you can't either anymore.

Then we have that free speech thing.

And lastly the freedom to peaceable assembly.

What you comrades fail to consider is that these same rights are enjoyed by leftists. You're literally struggling to strip free society of it's powers. It makes no logical sense. We can all condemn the kkk or nazis... they are violent hate groups. We can and have relegated them to fringe/obscure status. That now they have publicity legitimizes them and will grow them. That should give you pause. MLK knew this... dems used to know this. What's changed? You.

Pretty goddamned hilarious to see claims that resistance to white supremacists is what legitimizes them, from the side that elected Trump.  Trump ran on a campaign of white supremacy.  Republicans jumped right over a dozen more qualified candidates to elect the guy who showed the most racial hatred.  They liked him because wanted to ban Muslims, kick Mexicans out, question the birthplace of a president because he was black, and refuse to even disavow David fucking Duke, when telling David Duke to take a hike is the free space in any game of political bingo.

Donald Trump made these assholes feel safe, like they'd "won" and now America was going to be a white-supremacist country and it's just too damn bad for the "libtards."  White supremacy has been on the rise long before any of the people who now scream about "antifa" even knew what that was.

Antifa's not new.  I've known about about Antifa for decades, because I'm into punk rock, and they're a fringe element of that scene.  They've never been a huge thing, and they still aren't.  They also aren't Democrats -- they're "anarchists" or communists, which is some silly shit that Democrats actually frown on... and you'd know that if you spent any time on Democratic websites.   I spend a lot of time on Redstate and Free Republic, etc. because I want to kill off the G.O.P.  and you can't hunt an animal you don't know.  If you're hunting bears, and you don't know where they sleep, what they eat, how they hunt, how they breed, where they hang out, what they think and what motivates them, then ya ain't huntin', you're just walking in the woods.   And it's become abundantly clear, from watching the right-wingers here and elsewhere, that they don't do a damn thing when it comes to recon.  They still use their silly "comrade" taunts and are combating "Commies."   They have no clue who they're actually dealing with... which is why they're going to lose in the long run.  Politics is a war of attrition, and demographics are dooming the GOP.   The young people see through them, they've tied themselves to a religion that they've disgraced by electing a guy who's about as un-Christian as it gets, their economic policies have proven to be complete hogwash, and they get all their news from wacky propaganda outlets that fill them with lies.   And now they've exposed themselves as motivated by racism beyond almost anything else.  That's why they picked Trump.  And now it's biting them in the ass, and they're scared.

All you hear now from them is "antifa" because, as I said, they're desperate.  They focus on that when they don't even seem to have heard of things like Identity Evropa, The Proud Boys, Christian Identity, 4chan, Daily Stormer, Stormfront... all that other upstart racist shit.  And that's where the real violence is.  Antifa is just resistance.  Sometimes misguided, yeah, sometimes stupid, sometimes detrimental to their own cause... but, if you really want to kill off Antifa, then you fucking address the Nazis, the Klan, the Proud Boys, and all their other ilk.   Because if you get rid of them, Antifa will fade because they'll have nothing to do.  The white supremacists provoke everything... antifa just show up to fight them.  The alt-right are staging the rallies.  They're the instigators.

But we don't hear a peep about them out of the right-wingers.   Because, honestly, deep down, that's who they sympathize with.  They think the alt-right white-knight scumbags are protecting Republican heritage and "white culture" so they turn a blind eye to that, and focus instead on the people who resist them, and try to blame them for it.   The people who punch the bullies back are the real bad guys, according to much of the right.  That's the narrative they want to create.

Nope.  Trump courted this, he invited it in, and his supporters are so embarrassed by it they're trying to put the blame on the resistance to it, so they won't have to address it.

Ridiculous.

All you have to do is look.  Hell, go to Twitter today, see the #burnmyMAGAhat stuff.  The only thing making them burn their stupid hats now is because Trump lightened up on DACA.  That's how goddamned racist the right-wing has become now.  That's what motivates 'em.   Trump didn't punish the brown people enough and that's what it took to turn them against him.

That's the truth, everything else is a pathetic dodge to try to avoid acknowledging it.

Not factual and ridiculous subjective confirmation bias over and over. You are literally parroting the dnc narrative. Where is the PROOF for all these claims of bias and nazism? Just repeating them doesn't make them true... pointing at fringe groups doesn't make it true. I'm seriously concerned that the left has lost their minds. Wake up comrades..!!
