Looks like they finally realized that just being Anti-Trump is not a program.
It only took them a Presidential election to figure it out. Now if they'd just start hammering single-payer or public insurance. I guess the Will Rogers comment about the Democratic party is still applicable.

Dems can be stubborn about identifying their problems, but it's encouraging that they're at least working on it.
I don't think they'll need to mention Trump. Trump will only be viewed as more of a source of alarm as his time goes on. The more bizarre his behavior, and the more his cult digs in to defend the indefensible, the creepier the whole thing seems.

There really isn't a strategy. There are no moderates in the party. The far left has taken over and I don't think that works well with middle America at this point and time. What might help is to get off the blame game. All politicians suck, but when you refuse to even cross the aisle and find commonalities,
that's where problems begin. Republicans are working there way toward that far end of the spectrum too, but their struggle is within so they haven't moved that far right.

If you really think the far left has taken over the Democratic party, you don't know anything about the far left. The far left constantly whines about the Democratic party being "Republican lite." The far left annoys me almost as much as the far right. So, no, your idea of "moderate" is way off. The Dems are far, far closer to centrist than the Republicans are at this point. Republicans have a hard time getting elected if they're centrists, because their party's held hostage by right-wing religious whackjobs who scream "RINO" at anything that's not a full-blown theocrat. Moderate Republicans only have a few states where they still have a chance, and they're becoming rarer every year.
