His committee questions showed that something was wrong. I voted for him and hope he gives it a good fight. Cnn medical people are saying it is a malignant tumor.

Very sad.

Maybe our President will learn to respect this man despite his being tortured and captured in North Viet Nam. I will physically throw up if President Trump attempts to give politically expedient praise to this hero. His comments about John should have been the end of it, but this country has lost its moral compass.

My brother goes to the same Mayo in Arizona and they are world class. He is in good hands.

In October of ’67 McCain . . . was flying his 26th Vietnam combat mission and his A-4 Skyhawk plane got shot down over Hanoi, and he had to eject, which basically means setting off an explosive charge that blows your seat out of the plane, and the ejection broke both McCain’s arms and one leg and gave him a concussion and he started falling out of the skies over Hanoi. Try to imagine for a second how much this would hurt and how scared you’d be, three limbs broken and falling toward the enemy capital you just tried to bomb . . . Imagine treading water with broken arms and trying to pull the life vest’s toggle with your teeth as a crowd of North Vietnamese men all swim out toward you. . . . McCain got bayoneted in the groin; a soldier broke his shoulder apart with a rifle butt. Plus by this time his right knee was bent 90 degrees to the side, with the bone sticking out. This is all public record. . . . He finally got tossed on a jeep and taken only about five blocks to the infamous Hoa Lo prison — a.k.a. the Hanoi Hilton, of much movie fame — where for a week they made him beg for a doctor and finally set a couple of the fractures without anesthetic and let the other fractures and the groin wound (imagine: groin wound) go untreated. Then they threw him in a cell. Try for a moment to feel this. . . . After he’d hung on like that for several months and his bones had mostly knitted and he could sort of stand up, the prison people came and brought him to the commandant’s office and closed the door and out of nowhere offered to let him go. . . . And John S. McCain III, 100 pounds and barely able to stand, refused the offer. The US military’s Code of Conduct for Prisoners of War apparently said that POWs had to be released in the order they were captured, and there were others who’d been in Hoa Lo a much longer time, and McCain refused to violate the Code. The prison commandant, not at all pleased, right there in his office had guards break McCain’s ribs, rebreak his arm, knock his teeth out. McCain still refused to leave without the other POWs. Forget how many movies stuff like this happens in and try to imagine it as real: a man without teeth refusing release.

Totally agree with Sea that if Trump now tries to say the slightest syrupy sympathetic thing about the hero he so shamelessly denigrated during his campaign, I'll vomit violently.

I hope America wakes up to what President Trump did to this man. I thought when he did it he was done in American politics, but I never gauged the anger which would allow people to turn a blind eye to President Trump's character flaws. It is very sad.

Indeed very sad. The news talked of McCain getting treatment and then returning to his job. The truth is he is done at this point. They will have to replace him pretty quickly.

I think you are right.

And here's how the Nevada Republican national committeewoman feels about McCain.

RNC committeewoman Diana Orrock tweets article calling for John McCain’s death

A Republican Party official is facing criticism after she enthusiastically shared an article calling for the death of Sen. John McCain as the senator recovers from surgery.

Diana Orrock, the Republican national committeewoman for Nevada, tweeted “Amen @caitoz,” in response to a Medium post by Caitlin Johnstone titled, “Please Just F—ing Die Already.”

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jul/18/diana-orrock-rnc-committeewoman-tweets-article-cal/

The article is short and well-worth a close read.

Of course, Joaniphonie is now going to censor my comments so expect to see the following pretty quickly:

INAPPROPRIATE CONTEXT REMOVED.

DO NOT POST SLANDEROUS ACCUSATIONS REGARDING POSTERS.

Please note her clever spelling of the word "context" in the first line. The Hillbilly Bed-Pan Flipper is a real credit to her profession, eh!

This is sad indeed. I always thought he was a breath of fresh air when he was riding the straight talk express, those were the days. He is an important voice in the Senate.

McCain is a fighter. However, his questioning two weeks ago during hearings indicated that the tumor was impacting his cognitive skills. Mayo can keep people alive, but they cannot repair cognitive damage in an 80 year old. There will be a great deal of pressure for him to resign and have the governor appoint a new senator, but it depends on Arizona law. The next election is only 3.5 months away and if he resigned the governor would appoint, but most states run an election at the next general election which could mean that some will try to delay any such decision until after November if the Senator can survive. The Republicans are not going to win the repeal of the ACA, and to give the senator the bull rush could have an election in November which would be foolish. I do not know Arizona's law on replacement and special elections.

Here is a man who never saw a war he didn't love and who introduced Sarah Palin into the political bloodstream ...

... the syrupy eulogies can go fuck themselves.

I worried that something was seriously wrong with him when he seemed so confused during the Comey questioning.  That was too strange to be put down to staying up late watching baseball.

I'm glad they caught it and were able to remove the tumor, and hope he has a full and speedy recovery.  So far his prognosis sounds good, so I hope it stays that way.  He's old, but he's tough.

I always have CNN playing in the background while I'm at work.  A few weeks back when Comey was testifying before Congress, I had to stop what I was doing and watch because McCain sounded extremely confused when it was his turn to question Comey.

I certainly do not wish President Trump have a brain tumor, but what is coming out of his mouth and his tweeter feed indicate to me either early onset dementia or some other brain damage from stroke or tumor. My wife played an interview to me with the author and reporter Woodard, which nothing the President said made any sense. I have advocated that the constitution needs to be amended to not only have an age qualification to run, but an age qualification where you cannot run after your 65th birthday. These type of restrictions on pilots, firefighters, and police are there for very good reasons, and the President is even more important to be healthy in mind and body. President Trump is not right in the head.

His prognosis is not good at all. It's a very aggressive cancer w/ life expectancy at 14 months.

Huh... I'd seen on TV that they got it all, but might require some follow-up treatment. But, the report I saw could have missed some things, I guess. Anyway, I hope for the best for him. I hate cancer...

Vikingwoman

Nah, it's one of the worst cancers you can have. They will try and prolong his life w/ chemo and radiation but once you start radiating the frontal lobe where reasoning and judgement are you're pretty much gone.

Life expectancy is not listed in years....only months. With his age and the type of malignant tumor, Vikingwoman is right. However, 14 months would be miraculous.

Mayo is doing some amazing things in Arizona. One of the newest treatments for aggressive brain tumors are immune therapy which is having amazing results in the most aggressive brain tumors, however we are talking about an 80 year old man who really has lived beyond his life expectancy. I do not hold much hope. He has lived a good life filled with challenges. I am so glad there is an explanation for his confusion at the hearings.

Ouch......President Obama gets one off. He will probably tweet for a week pissed off that he is being disrespected.....again. I do not think he understands that he is considered a total joke by 60% of Americans as more every day are coming to their senses.

The diagnosis did not appear to sway the veteran Arizona senator, who subsequently criticized President Donald Trump for canceling a covert U.S. program to arm moderate rebels in Syria. The administration is “playing right into the hands of Vladimir Putin,” McCain said in a statement issued by his office.

Can I stand and applaud. The man is definitely going to die from his cancer, and he has the courage to call out our traitor. There will not be an election for his seat until the next GENERAL election under Arizona law, and the longer he stays in office and counters the Presidents quid pro quo with the Russians, the better for America. Americans are going to listen to the old sabre rattler, and understand on Putin.......he is right.

So says crazy Oatie.
