So when your beloved parents are in that nursing home and the state or medicaid will not make payments without contribution from the family......that blue collar white guy can watch his parents die in agony at home, or will have to kick in and care for their parents. 2/3s of medicaid is for the elderly and disabled.......tax cuts for the rich........horrible treatment of our aged and sick. We call ourselves a Christian nation. I even so a big sign in Pace which said Christian southern Baptist vote for Trump......Christians who follow the guidance of Jesus do not support this bill......it is the devil's work. All they needed was some useful fools. Mission accomplished.

Now do not get me wrong.....Medicaid will not disappear, nope it will gradually be reduced over the next 7 years,  where state's now only have to come up with 5%, this will change to where they are going to have to come up with almost 20% which means that an elderly person who is getting 4k of medicaid coverage now might see that monthly amount reduced by $800 which means the facility will not keep the person, or families are going to have to pay the difference.  If you have dealt with working poor, they cannot even afford that amount for rent, and they have no margin for error, people who have worked their whole life will watch working poor die in horrible situations.   This is not fantasy.  All because basically a couple thousand individuals need to get a capital gains break.....what have we become?

66% premium increase for age 50+ under Senate GOP health care bill

"The Senate Republican health care bill, announced today, contains the language letting insurers raise premiums by 66% on people age 50 to 64. (At age 65 you can go on Medicare.)

I have action steps you can take at the bottom of this story.

This is the same language contained in the House Republican health care bill, which is bad news, as it means the provision is more likely to become law.

Specifically, the Republicans are watering down a provision of the Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare) that premiums for people 50 and up can only be three times premiums for young people.

Under the House and Senate Republican plans, that number is being raised to five times. Which is a huge difference.

GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell had his staff write the bill in secret.
Let’s say, for example, that a young person is paying $250 per month for insurance. The same insurer can therefore charge someone age 50+ $750 per month, or three times the lowest premium. Under the new GOP plans, insurers can can charge older Americans five times what they charge younger Americans, or in the example I provide, someone age 50-64 who now pays $750 per month in premiums could see their premiums rise to $1,250 per month, a 66% increase.

Here’s the specific language in the Senate bill. Note where it mentions the “5 to 1” ratio:..."

There's still a long way to go before this bill lands on Trumps's desk. It's so harsh that I don't think this is going to be passed before the 2018 election. The Republicans know that this could affect their majority in the House and maybe the Senate.

There're a lot of interest groups speaking out against it. As write, a nurse's group is just now coming out against it.

I have been a life long Republican because in Illinois the machine and government abuses have been democratic. However, taking medicare and basically abolishing the same is not the party of Lincoln. It is the horrors of Jim Crow and the Dixiecrats using race to allow the wealthy to steal more of America. Dear God I do not understand dear friends who still support President Trump when I know they are good people. The resentment they have toward what they believe are give aways is not base in fact but pure propaganda which they have been spoon fed by talking heads who profit as shills for the wealthy. I wish every person could spend a week in a medicaid based nursing home facility. Hell, in Illinois they are three to four months late on their payments to the nursing homes. People are suffering across America as babyboomers the population bubble enter post retirement. I now wish I had the wisdom I have now thirty years ago because although I ran for elected office, I would have been much more involved in making sure that government was efficient and fair. It is a rigged game.

Why didn't you see this 30 years ago? How could you NOT see the game was rigged in favor of powerful corporations and the wealthy?

The real estate equity which was growing in significant numbers masked the reality that real wages adjusted for inflation was flat line trajectory. The people around me were all doing well, and the factories were mostly still here. It was a very good time to be raising a family. However, when 17 trillion was stolen in real estate equity from middle class America, suddenly the average middle class person who thought they had a 100k equity were upside down, and the margins in the game changed. I would have done much more pushing job credits and incentives to keep manufacturing in America. It would have been tough because I saw factories moved to Mexico which in three years were producing quality product at 1/5 the labor cost. So some of the Post WWII monopoly of manufacturing was now thrust into a world market where comparative advantage rapidly changed, and the economic dislocation left America with no plan on industrial retention and retraining. I would have focused on those issues and certainly would have become more involved, even though I was involved, more needed to be done.

But that's the ultimate fruit of Free Market--read: Laissez Faire--capitalism. Unregulated capitalism is as big a disaster for the State as Fascism or Communism.

I don't know how anybody who watched or read the news in '07-'08 could have missed it, although the signs were there as far back as the '50s.

Were you in a coma in 1968? Did you not see the country convulsed with riots, assassinations and political disorder? Did you miss November of '63, the Vietnam war and Civil Rights?

C'mon, you're smarter than that...   I think.
