I had a wonderful time with my grandsons going to see the movie Captain Underpants. They laughed, and actually it was a very strange experience where I felt like I was in the twilight zone. First, four drinks, one large popcorn, and four tickets was $60. It was insane. When I took my children to the movies in the eighties, we went out to eat, we had popcorn and drinks, and it was half this price with dinner. The movie was bizarre, but the kids in that theater just laughed and laughed. A great father's day, but rather strange.

I don't go to the movies any more.

Only reasonable place to go around here is Treetop Cinema in Gulf Breeze. We don't go often but last time we went, our two tickets, an Extra Large bucket of popcorn (which includes free refills -- we always grab a refill to take home), a small drink and a bottle of water cost around twenty-two bucks.

Seaoat, despite the heavy cost it does sound as if you had a nice Father's Day -- even though you were the one treating instead of being treated. Smile

I had a great time, but very reflective. You see as a kindergarten student through the third grade I was an avid comic book reader. Superman mostly, but some batman, flash, and assorted others. We had a group of about eight of us who traded comics and baseball cards. This movie Captain underpants is based on two children becoming friends in Kindergarten when the teacher was talking about our solar system and then said Uranus. They were the only two kids who laughed, and they shared a sense a humor and one could draw, and one would write the story. So they started making their own comics, which focused on their hero Captain Underpants.

It was strange. We become adults and often leave part of our child behind, and this movie with all the kids laughing at mostly toilet jokes and whoppee cushions did take me back to what I found funny as a kid. A child's imagination is such a powerful thing. It can shape their lives and take them places where nobody else could imagine.

It was fun, but the new big thing seems to be kid's movies as they are probably the only time an adult is going to pay $60 to go to the movies.

Apparently the youngest grandson was having such a good time as I let them move concrete blocks and totes with the all terrain lull forklift, and they went fishing and explored the islands, when Mrs. Seaoat was trying to coax the youngest one inside he refused to leave the golf cart and told her he wants to stay with us......but Dean......your mom and dad would miss you.......No.....Mom and dad are dead......I want to stay here. I told my son the story and he just laughed as he just turned 4 and is telling whoppers now, but they did have a great time and Seaoat had a better time.
