The GOP is planning to finance massive tax cuts for the wealthy on the backs of the poor, disabled, and the elderly.

And, they are planning on doing so under the cover of night with no public discussion because they are of the opinion that their constituencies are too stupid to figure it out.

These are the facts.

And who can blame 'em, when their constituencies keep proving, over and over again, that they are that gullible. They do what they're told. If they're told to hate something, they hate it with a fury. If they're told something's good, they'll defend it no matter how much it's hurting them.

Republicans keep doing this horrible stuff because they're never accountable for it. They know they'll get away with it because their voters are trained like dancing spaniels. It's like I keep screamin', just look at the South. There is no sane reason people would keep electing the party that keeps them at the bottom of the nation, year after year after year, if they weren't solidly brainwashed by "team sports."

They know their audience are authoritarian-junkies and take full advantage of it. It's almost fun for them to see what the rubes will let them get away with, just out of contempt. They have no reason to want to do any better for these people, because it won't change the reaction they get, anyway -- the people will like what they're told to like, and if it's crappy, they'll vote for it anyway, just to "piss off the libtards." They operate on belief, and facts won't get in the way of what they've decided to think.

No matter what happens to these voters, they'll find some way to blame it on Democrats, because that's what FOX and Hannity/Rush/Levin will tell them to do.

Their constituents are certainly stupid. And they will hooray the action as though it were a victory.

Stand by for post vote victory party. Sad

Of course the talking points try to create a false equivalency that the Democrats did the same thing in 2009. They did not. It was a normal open legislative process which did have some initial drafting, but there were congressional hearings and town halls on the specifics. The result was the death panel lies. This time it is in absolute secrecy because it involves death panel truths.

Even the most dense and compliant voter will not be able to ignore the fact that they are getting dropped from their health insurance plan. That is not possible is it? I mean, how are the R's going to spin that outcome in a way that blames it on the Dems? It will be a total Republican vote in both houses and an R in the WH so this is going to be quite interesting to see how this is explained away.

Maybe they will have to play up the "freedom" and "choice" card but still that would hardly seem to compensate for what will be lost.

This should be enough to turn the little lightbulbs on over at least a few heads? (Not that it will change the way they vote?)

And once again, guess who wins?

THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY!

Every time the gubment makes or modifies a health law...  Our premiums & co-pays go up.
The industry loves the govt!

"Just follow the money".

Passage of the Affordable Care Act, which became law in 2010, brought significant change to the health insurance industry. While the legislation was pending, major health insurers said they supported the law while actually working against it.

Indeed, the industry’s top contributor – Starr Companies – spent more than $15 million on conservative groups from 2015 to 2016, and the Republican Party currently outstrips the Democratic Party $19.7 million to $9.6 million in donations in 2016. In fact, the only time the industry gave more heavily to Democrats since OpenSecrets began tracking contributions was in 1990, when the party captured $7.3 million in insurance spending compared to $7.1 million given to Republicans.

JUST HOURS BEFORE House Speaker Paul Ryan held a press conference to sell his health care overhaul legislation — using a PowerPoint presentation mocked for misrepresenting basic facts  — he was doing something he’s much better at: fundraising.

The two things were related. The Thursday morning breakfast fundraiser he attended was hosted by a lobbying firm working to unwind the Affordable Care Act on behalf of health insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield, one of the big winners of Ryan’s proposed legislation.

Yeah, they are. Just off the top of my head I can come up with a few that Republicans fought tooth and nail:

Social Security
40 hour work week with overtime pay
Unemployment insurance
Child labor laws
Medicare/Medicaid
The Marshall Plan
The Civil Rights and Voting Rights acts

There's more but your ignorant hillbilly ass ain't worth the effort.

This isn't a debate, you asshole! You just post ridiculous provocative comments and then snivel when someone provokes you. You never cite any facts, you just spew your ignorant opinions. Start citing some data to back up your loony notions and I'll respond in kind. Until then UP YOURS!

If the Senate health care bill is anything like the one passed by the house and described by Trump as being "mean" (after he held a celebration in the WH when it passed the house, oh well) it will throw millions off health insurance rolls and gut many programs states are now using to help fight the opioid epidemic. In other words there will be many unhappy voters. The chickens will be coming home to roost.

The coverage of this murder of the ACA has been well enough covered that a good percentage of voters must realize that it is the work of the Banana-Republicans alone and may consider throwing some of them out of office? That's the way the system is supposed to work but lately it has been hard to figure out.

Which is why I don't think anything will get done before the 2018 election. They don't want to risk facing voters who just got the insurance rug pulled out from under them.

Seriously, poor words don't make your point any more valid.

At least they're my own words and sincerely felt. You couldn't write a hundred words of your own, without resort to some far-right blog, if a gun-nut held a loaded and cocked Colt 1911 .45 ACP pistol to your head, you ignorant asshole.

Same goes for your suck-buddy PkrBoy--you're both functionally illiterate.
