https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2017/05/31/president-trump-tweets-despite-the-constant-negative-press-covfefe-twitter-explodes/?utm_term=.7ac038f02175

A few minutes after midnight in Washington, D.C., President Trump tweeted a strange sentence.

“Despite the constant negative press covfefe,” it read.

No, that isn’t a typo. At least, not on the part of The Washington Post.

It’s a good guess that the word he was looking for was “coverage.”

But the tweet, and the thought, remained incomplete. Within two hours, it had been retweeted more than 60,000 times and “liked” more than 74,000 times — making it one of his most popular tweets in months.

Quickly, the “word” covfefe began trending. One company even appeared to have made a shirt with that odd combination of letters written across the front in bold, block letters.

“Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my #covfefe,” wrote one user.

“What’s even the point of CNN if they’re not going commercial-free with #covfefe coverage?” inquired another.

“The next time I go to Starbucks I’m gonna order a grande #covfefe,” wrote one thirsty user.

There's lots more in the article, but the best one is:

Leave the gun, take the #covfefe.

Trump wasn't always so "linguistically challenged".

"STAT reviewed decades of Trump’s on-air interviews and compared them to Q&A sessions since his inauguration. The differences are striking and unmistakable.

"Research has shown that changes in speaking style can result from cognitive decline. STAT therefore asked experts in neurolinguistics and cognitive assessment, as well as psychologists and psychiatrists, to compare Trump’s speech from decades ago to that in 2017; they all agreed there had been a deterioration, and some said it could reflect changes in the health of Trump’s brain."

The article from which that was taken is very interesting:

I remember a similar situation with George W Bush. As president he was plagued with mispronunciations and tongue twisters. It became a "thing" on SNL etc. but then someone went back and posted interviews from years before he became president. In those he sounded like an intelligent well spoken educated person. Who knows what happened there?

I did see one linguist or psychologist saying that the use of repeated words such as "very very", which he does a lot, could be a coping mechanism used as an attempt to mask declining mental sharpness.

Of course we have that excellent medical review of him by his personal physician so there are no worries along those lines.

It's obvious what Trump's problem is: He doesn't drink, smoke or do drugs.

When you render yourself stuporous from over-indulgence, your brain has to really work to keep you upright and coherent and the mind, like the body, grows along lines of stress. Getting loaded is like aerobics for the brain.

That's why he's in such pitiful intellectual shape.

My Aussie cousins say a good drunk is healthy for the brain by killing off the weak cells... like thinning a herd of buffalo. Which makes good sense until they go extinct... lol.

The mind reels...

"President Donald Trump’s mysterious post to Twitter in the wee hours Wednesday morning about'“constant negative press covfefe' may have sparked hours of jokes and overnight confusion, but to hear White House press secretary Sean Spicer tell it, the president’s tweet was no typo.

"'The president and a small group of people know exactly what he meant,' Spicer said at Wednesday’s off-camera press gaggle in the White House briefing room. He refused to elaborate and ignored questions shouted by reporters. It followed a rarely seen self-deprecating joke from Trump early Wednesday morning that made light of the typo (or newly invented word) the president had birthed hours earlier."

In a political climate like this it looks as if they are up for any distraction from the drumbeat of bad news, even a typo.

Spicer had this to say about the tweet.

“The president and a small group of people know exactly what he meant,”

And Mistress Hillary agrees with you:

"Hillary Clinton joked Wednesday that she took President Donald Trump’s use of the non-word 'covfefe' in a late-night tweet as a dispatch to Russia.

"Trump tweeted shortly after midnight: 'Despite the constant negative press covfefe' — an incomplete thought that had Webster’s dictionary at a loss for words.

“'I thought it was a hidden message to the Russians,' Clinton quipped to Kara Swisher on Wednesday at Recode’s Code Conference"

A tweet from RC Cola:

We have no plans to release any covfefe flavored cola. If you want the taste of incompetence there are other sodas more readily available.

Morning Joe is pretty funny. Calling covfefe the president pooping in his pants and Spicer calling that modern art. Laughing
