I guess the Civil War never really happened then either. I've spent my last dollar in Louisiana, specifically NOLA, ever. There will never be a day when I go back due to the lunacy of the leadership in that area and many others are planning a boycott as well. Bet their attitude changes when revenues are less from tourism.

THIS JUST IN:

Economy of Louisiana on brink of collapse because hillbilly dimwit withholds last dollar.

That makes a lot of sense. Does "cousin hillbilly" refer to your wife, you inbred cracker moron?

I cannot wait fifty years when they are putting up statues to Osama Bin Laden on Public squares in America.  The Civil War terrorists cost millions of lives as they attacked America, yet when somebody tears down statutes of Bin Laden from public squares there certainly be some pro terrorist factions which will object to those statutes being torn down.  The real question should be how the statutes to terrorists ever were allowed to be put up as some would argue that my analogy with Bin Laden is too far out, yet there are Americans right now if given a chance would put up a statute in a public square.  We do not honor terrorists in America on public property.  If you want to put a statute up in your back yard, go for it.

NO does not need to worry about a boycott.  Anybody stupid enough to boycott a city for removing terrorist statutes probably is a teat sucker anyway and has no disposable income to even afford a trip over to NO.

As painful as it is for me to type this and as loathe as I am to admit it, Seaoat is 100% correct here.

The "nobility" of the Lost Cause was a lie foisted on poor whites by the economically shattered planter aristocracy in an attempt to regain their lost status. Confederate Generals and political leaders should have been hung in town squares all across the defeated south. Secession was treason.

Oh my god, you fucking crybaby!   Yes, removing the even-the-losers-get-a-trophy statues from public display is EXACTLY the same thing as saying "the Civil War never happened."  In the same way that saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" causes the downfall of Christianity, or you not purchasing your shiny objects in New Orleans is going to crumble the state of Louisiana's budget and teach them the meaning of vengeance.

Everything with you is absolutes... when you're actually posting your own content, that is, instead of just pasting in articles somebody else wrote like that InfoWars-damage-case uncle everyone has, the panicky one who believes absolutely everything and won't stop forwarding every crazy e-mail that hoves into his field of vision.  And we only put up with him because he's poor Aunt Suzy's burden and we don't want to make things awkward for her at Thanksgiving, bless her heart.

Really, dude, it's silly and it's tiresome.  Every pebble that falls off a mountain automatically has you reporting the valley below will most certainly be destroyed by a landslide.

"Either Confederate memorials stay up, or the Civil War never happened!  Either we find a Russian who voted 63 million times for Trump, or there was no Russian meddling in the election!  Either we support banning all Muslims from the country, or we can't even say the words 'radical Islamic terrorism!' "  The fact that you obviously think this is in some way an effective intellectual tactic is just sad.   I don't know who you've been hanging around that that stuff works on, but if you haven't been trying to sell them some magic beans or something, you're wasting one hell of an opportunity to exploit some dullards.

Nobody gives a damn if you go to Louisiana or not, snowflake.  Hell, they'll probably be glad not to have you, because if you're half as dumb in person as you act on this forum, they'd have to pick you up and hold you for observation for eating things you find on the sidewalk.

Who? You, because I pointed out what a useless jag-off you are? "Feelings hurt" is kind of a weird thing to accuse anyone else of when you're childishly pitching a tantrum against a whole state because they took down some statues you've probably never even seen. If that's not "hurt feelings," what is?

There wasn't anything in there to hurt my feelings. I have no stake in Louisiana's tourism industry. You're misunderstanding reactions. See, what I got was fed up with the pathetic stupidity of your arguments, and your completely unjustified sense of self-importance. Plus there's the matter of your cowardice, which I find repellent. No, you don't hurt my feelings... you just gross me out.

You think a whole state's gonna fold up shop because you won't go there (and who knows if you've ever even been there) because they took down some statues that you want up for... what? Because you think people won't remember that there was a Civil War? I'm pretty sure they'll remember one of the biggest events in the history of the country, dude. Fa reals. Germany remembers there was a WWII, you betcha, even though there aren't statues of Goering and Himmler crowding their public squares. You want to remember the Civil War, Shelby Foote wrote an excellent three-volume history of it -- I have copies and fully recommend them. Long read, but well worth it. There's also a great Ken Burns documentary -- I've got it on DVD, and everyone should check that out, too. If you don't want to buy anything, the History Channel runs many fine programs on the Civil War in heavy rotation. And there will remain many museums to visit. Nobody's going to be forgetting it. So, "covering up the Civil War" is a bullshit, silly-as-a-fish-with-titties sort of an argument that would embarrass you if you had a few more brain-cells to bang together.

The only other reason I can figure that you really want those statues to stay up is because you know they offend black people and make them feel unwelcome in their own home towns, and you like that. You resent having to do anything to appease a bunch of black folks. You're put out that they don't have to just suck it up. Them getting their way -- even about something reasonable -- really pisses you off. That's really the crux, isn't it?

You also think we should shut down immigration for millions of people because you're scared of differences and want the country to be your own special "safe space." The world's not built around your pathetic, useless, nothing-to-contribute-that's-worth-a-damn ass, and you can't handle it. Every little thing that challenges you and maybe makes you the slightest bit uncomfortable is a Chicken Little catastrophe. You'd happily limit the lives and freedom of millions just so special-little-you never has to adjust to anything or confront any of your senseless fears.

That makes you a coward of such disgusting magnitude that I self-censored a post I was going to put up for you under another thread, because I thought maybe I was being too harsh. And no, that didn't "hurt my feelings," either, it's just... repellent. People who casually disregard the lives of lots of other people just because they're terrified of a remote possibility that might happen to them just kinda make me sick. You're like some writhing, slimy worm that thinks it's the most valuable part of the apple, when all you're doing is defiling it.

Thank you FLTX for posting this totally superb speech that explains the thinking behind the removal of these four Civil War Era monuments. I happened to catch most of the speech live while listening to local radio but never heard the whole thing.

Indeed the monuments were symbols of white supremacy that paid homage to, as the mayor said, men who were warriors but not patriots. They were in fact, as my grandson pointed out, not American heroes but heroes of another country, the Confederate States of America and had no place in the USA.

The mayor pointed out two other significant things: the statues were a reminder of who was in charge and also the lack of public remembrances of slave commerce.

He hit the nail on the head, totally.

The leftists obviously have no confidence that minorities can use reason and logic to absorb the past and move towards a better present/future. I frankly don't give a damn about statues... but humans of any color don't need a bunch of pseudo-elitist leftists protecting them from themselves.

That's a lie... it's always been a lie... it's always going to be a lie... and one day it'll backfire on y'all. Big-time.

Oh, look, everybody, little PkrBoy has copied a new term from one of the silly things he reads: "pseudo-elitists".

He wants the grown-ups to think he's one of them so he copies terms like pseudo-elitist and talkingpoints and collectivism/globalism/socialism and spews them out like vomit because he's too pathetic to think up his own ideas.

Oh, little PkrBoy, you're such a big strong man. Run to mommy now, and let the grown-ups talk. Mommy will give you a hug and rock you to sleep.

Equal Protection under the law is an important part of what has made this country great. Those who fight for the same are not protecting others from themselves, rather they are protecting their children and grandchildren from totalitarian government where the color of your skin means your access to the American Dream is qualified.

Then your goal should be absolute equality and equal opportunity. The rest of this bs is just politics.

Well, considering the black folks were the ones most instrumental in the campaign to get the statues and flags down, I reckon that is what they wanted, using their own reason and logic. I'm just happy to help them. I'm not "saving them," I'm just assisting.

Who the fuck are you to tell ANYBODY what their goal should be? You're a racist, white-trash piece-of-shit who wouldn't last a week as a black guy or an immigrant.

All of a sudden you're saying absolute equality should be the goal but not too long ago, your degenerate ilk were screaming bloody murder at Brown v. Board of Education, the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act--squealing about State's Rights and separate-but-equal.

Now, all of sudden you're bleating about absolute equality--what bullshit. You conservatives and reactionaries are all nothing but racists at heart with no principles save one: I got mine, up yours!
