So is this just a show of force or Trump got a taste of it and saw how easy it was to order attacks he wants to try his hand with another?

THAAD was deployed a year ago....Trump moving them closer and adding ships that can intercept missile launches from North Korea is common sense.
The last thing China and South Korea want is a war with North Korea....Z man was in agreement with that also. We talked several times about humanitarian effect  of epic porpotion on both countries.

It happens to be a typo.  So glad you are here to point out trivial errors. I don't proof read on the forum because I just don't care.

Well, being that you're our moderator and all, you might want to consider caring a little more about not making people have to stop and try to interpret your "typo's." To say "I just don't care" is something of an insult to your readers, IMHO.

Yea, maybe they're sending them because China tipped their hands and we knew they were sending 150,000 troops to NK.

If anybody thinks that China wants a unified South Korea closely aligned to the United States, they are mistaken.

A unified South Korea? What on earth are you talking about? South Korea is already "unified". It's a sovereign, independent nation-state and has been since May of '48. It is already "closely aligned to the United States" and has been since the Eisenhower administration. DUH!

Look, nothing personal, but your posts are getting more and more incoherent. Talk to your doctor, they have medications for that.

What we have here is two insane and insecure leaders facing off with each other, with both of them having the power to launch nuclear warfare that will kill millions.

Welcome to the new horror film ....

Except, as we now find out, the carrier group wasn't headed for Korea at all.  What else can/will this administration screw up and/or lie about???  Can't believe one word any of them say.  Credibility:  ZERO

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/18/world/asia/aircraft-carrier-north-korea-carl-vinson.html

WASHINGTON — Just over a week ago, the White House declared that ordering an American aircraft carrier into the Sea of Japan would send a powerful deterrent signal to North Korea and give President Trump more options in responding to the North’s provocative behavior. “We’re sending an armada,” Mr. Trump said to Fox News last Tuesday afternoon.

The problem was that the carrier, the Carl Vinson, and the three other warships in its strike force were that very moment sailing in the opposite direction, to take part in joint exercises with the Australian Navy in the Indian Ocean, 3,500 miles southwest of the Korean Peninsula.

White House officials said Tuesday that they had been relying on guidance from the Defense Department. Officials there described a glitch-ridden sequence of events, from an ill-timed announcement of the deployment by the military’s Pacific Command to a partially erroneous explanation by the defense secretary, Jim Mattis — all of which perpetuated the false narrative that a flotilla was racing toward the waters off North Korea.

By the time the White House was asked about the Carl Vinson, its imminent arrival had been emblazoned on front pages across East Asia, fanning fears that Mr. Trump was considering a pre-emptive military strike. It was portrayed as further evidence of the president’s muscular style days after he ordered a missile strike on Syria that came while he and President Xi Jinping of China chatted over dessert during a meeting in Florida.

With Mr. Trump himself playing up the show of force, Pentagon officials said, rolling back the story became difficult.

The story of the wayward carrier might never have come to light had the Navy not posted a photo online Monday of the Carl Vinson sailing south through the Sunda Strait, which separates the Indonesian islands of Java and Sumatra. It was taken on Saturday, four days after the White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, described its mission in the Sea of Japan.

Now, the Carl Vinson is finally on a course for the Korean Peninsula, expected to arrive in the region next week, according to Defense Department officials. White House officials declined to comment on the confusion, referring questions to the Pentagon. “Sean discussed it once when asked, and it was all about process,” a spokesman, Michael Short, said of Mr. Spicer.

Privately, however, other officials expressed bewilderment that the Pentagon did not correct its timeline, particularly given the tensions in the region and the fact that Mr. Spicer, as well as the national security adviser, Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster, were publicly answering questions about it.

“The ship is now moving north to the Western Pacific,” the Pentagon’s chief spokeswoman, Dana White, said Tuesday. “This should have been communicated more clearly at the time.”

DUH.

WATCH: Sean Spicer implodes when White House reporters grill him about aircraft carrier blunder

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer got grilled by White House reporters on Wednesday about the Trump administration offering misleading claims about whether it was sending an aircraft carrier to the Sea of Japan as signal to North Korea.

Although Spicer said last week that the carrier would serve as “a huge deterrence” to North Korea, the New York Times reported on Tuesday that the U.S.S. Carl Vinson was actually sailing toward the Indian Ocean at the time the U.S. announced that it was heading to the Sea of Japan.

In fact, as of Monday, the carrier was sailing through the Sunda Strait in Indonesia, which is thousands of miles south of the Sea of Japan.

Asked by reporters about this on Wednesday, Spicer insisted that the administration didn’t say anything misleading in its past statements on the carrier, as the carrier was bound to wind up in the Sea of Japan at some point.

“The president said we have an armada that’s going toward the peninsula,” Spicer said. “That’s a fact, it happened. It is happening, rather.”

In a followup, a reporter noted that “when the President of the United States says there’s military hardware going to a region in the middle of a crisis on the Korean Peninsula, the allies of the United States are encouraged,” but “when that happens to not be the case, they can interpret that as a false encouragement” for their efforts.

“How is this White House explaining to South Korea and Japan there was no U.S.S. Carl Vinson?” she asked.

Spicer, however, seemed unfazed.

“The statement that was put out was that the U.S.S. Carl Vinson carrier group was headed to the Korean Peninsula,” said Spicer. “It is headed to the Korean Peninsula.”

“It’s headed there now, it wasn’t headed there last week,” the reporter shot back.

“But that’s not what we said,” Spicer replied. “We said it was heading there. It was heading there. It is heading there.”
