1 Dad's Memorial on 4/5/2017, 10:59 pm

Hi friends,

As promised, I wanted to let you know the date of Dad's memorial service. We haven't ironed out details yet, but it will be Saturday, May 6th. We just got confirmation today when his military funeral at Barrancas can occur, so that informed the date we chose for the memorial. We want to make sure that dad's siblings coming in town for the funeral can attend the memorial too.

Anyway, you all of course are invited. There is no pressure, as I know some of you are unwell or would rather remain anonymous. Still, I feel that as his good friends, I should invite you.

Once I get the time and location down, I will let you know.

In less than an hour, it will be one month since Dad passed. I honestly can't believe it.

Thank you for being his friends,
Brooke

I will probably be out of town, but there is a slim chance I may come back down, and I certainly will need to get the details. Thanks for posting.

Thank you Brooke. Your dad is on my mind often, especially with it being Cadbury egg season. We teased about the Easter candy. My favorite being white chocolate Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs.  He said he use to keep a small stash hidden from your mom.

I wish I could be there too. Your dad meant a lot to us... it's still hard to believe he's gone. I have to do a double take every time I see his avatar when you post. This old herd is thinning fast. Please know we're thinking of him even if we're unable to attend.

Thank you for staying in touch. Your dad will always be remembered fondly and his voice will always be alive on these pages.

Beautifully stated, Tel, and I heartily concur.

Brooke, your dad was the best, and so are you. As others have expressed before and doubtless will again, I hope you'll consider sticking around, at least from time to time.

It took me a while to get this together, but I wanted to share it with you all since Dad didn't want an obit in PNJ because he was concerned about mom becoming a target for scammers and such.

We didn't include a picture because we were trying to keep the cost down, but I'm going to put one here anyway so you can have a face for a name.

Thank you... Phil was an important part of our group. A voice of logic from the left... which isn't easy.

Brooke, thank you so much for the picture - what a smile! Loved seeing it. And the obit was a perfectly wonderful tribute to a fine, fine man. We were fortunate to know him, even to the limited extent we did.

Just HAD to get snarky, didn't you? Obviously couldn't help yourself. Pretty pitiful.

He was ridiculed for several positions here... but had the courage against leftist backlash to speak up.

That isn't easy. I consider that an attribute worthy of praise.

Puhleeeze, ...

... even his own daughter has acknowledged that he had an appetite for kooky conspiracy theories.

It really can't be stated too much on this forum - if you don't wish to be ridiculed, stop saying ridiculous shit.

Seriously. Can you guys stop bickering for 5 minutes? I came here to share something with you--not to start crap. Take it somewhere else. Thanks.

Thanks for posting this Brooke. He looks so happy in the photo, as if it was taken right after he took a poke at Markle after one of Markle's countless spam posts. I miss Zman.

Z-man was one of a kind...he never made it personal. He loved to rib Markle but he was also kind to him on a non-political basis.

Haha! THAT kind of smile was a completely different one. Imagine a 12-year-old boy who just got his little sister to put her finger in a electrical socket kind of deviant smile. Lol. I can see it right now Very Happy

Most people were kind to Markle on a non political basis. It was mostly Markle's paid political spam that caused people to get sick of him and mock him. Laughing

Really.....what were all the negative comments when I was trying to reach him?

You made it personal just like you do now to PkrBum and me. Z-man knew it all too well.

Thanks for posting. I am in transit, but I am still sad thinking about Z and hope I can get back down here in May for the memorial. Getting my butt kicked right now, but hope springs eternal. Your dad's absence has impacted the forum. Just not as much fun anymore. We had a great decade sharing stories, and I miss his intellect and spirit.

Oh please, I had no problems with Z man and if had any problems with me he didn't show it. He often encouraged me to post pictures mocking Markle.

Sheesh, almost sounds like someone was being paid off to allow Markle's paid spam and misses the money now that he's gone. Laughing Laughing Laughing

That's what I mean. In comparison to your father, Markle is a 12 year old child, mentally. Laughing

That is not what I said. You made it personal with Markle, just like you do to prkbum and me. Like you have always done.
