President Trump can pardon Flynn. Done. He does not testify, and the connections are temporarily stalled. Too many leaks and sloppy approach to the Russians to get away scott free, but Flynn will probably never have to ask for immunity as Trump will pick up the phone and offer a pardon for a great military leader...........and then he will probably pardon himself.

[Opening narration (season 1)]
Narrator: There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

[Opening narration - season 4 & 5]
Narrator: You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.

[Opening narration - season 2]
Narrator: You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Twilight Zone!

[Opening narration - season 3]
Narrator: You are traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!

[Opening narration-Season 1 alternate]
Narrator: You are about to enter another dimension. A dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!

Pardoning Flynn would be political suicide. It would provoke so much outrage on the Hill by both parties that Trump would have to resign.

He's not been charged w/ anything,Oatie. If he refuses to testify that's not going to look too good. Don't you think they know Trump can pardon him?

You take this stuff too seriously. We have very robust institutions--just look at what's happened to the immigration ban and the healthcare bill.

It's fun because we've just gone through eight years of almost no political excitement and now, in 60-some days, we've had a bonanza. I can't tear my eyes away.

Nixon was not charged with anything when he was given a pardon from President Ford. If he pardons Flynn, nothing would happen. Trump will be 74 at reelection time.....he will not run again.

Just look at the fact that a completely unqualified person is President of the United States and we can't seem to get him out. Pence is not an alternative. Neither is Ryan. What can be done? I'm not happy being a bystander to catastrophe.

Sorry, but I think this development is pure hogwash, and I wouldn't suggest that anyone get their hopes up about it at all.  Reading various news reports on this from NBC.com and others, Flynn's attorney is clearly attempting to imply Flynn's not guilty of anything whatsoever,  but is asking for immunity only because he's concerned about "unfair prosecution," given the supposed witch hunts, accusations of treason, etc., rampant in the media and elsewhere   Sounds to me as if Flynn just wants a chance to make himself look good, spin the story in his favor, not offer anything particularly damning to anyone else, either, and have immunity to boot.   A likely whitewash, IMHO.   We'll see if either of the intelligence committees falls for it.  Hope not, frankly, because the only person it will benefit is Flynn, and maybe a person or two he chooses to declare innocent along with himself.    We shall see.

Pure hogwash is the correct term.

Linda, Flynn has already been shown to have worked for Erodogan at the same time he was part of the Trump campaign. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of waiting for a resolution to this travesty. Meanwhile, the Orange Oompa Loompa remains in office.

If Nixon wasn't charged w/ anything then what was the pardon for? That doesn't make any sense.

I don't know? I don't think they give you immunity unless they know what you have to say is incriminating. They can subpoena Flynn and he can plead the 5th but that won't look too good either.

A presidential Pardon of Richard Nixon was issued on September 8, 1974, by President of the United States Gerald Ford, which granted former president Richard Nixon a full and unconditional pardon for any crimes he might have committed against the United States.

He was never charged for a crime. The pardon was preemptive.

If he is granted immunity, then you'll know this thing is in full implosion.

There's only one reason to grant immunity, and that's because the one receiving it can deliver someone above him.

Remind me again, who's above national security advisor?

That's a big IF, considering both houses have Republican majorities. They don't really want to hear whatever he might say. If he's called without immunity, he just takes the fifth and everyone's happy-happy.

If he is granted immunity, the best thing that could happen is that he takes down or implicates Pence and/or Bannon The worst thing that could happen is that he takes down Trump and Pence ends up as president. Pence scares me much more than Trump because he's a religious crazy and a skilled political operator.

Trump's an emotionally disordered bully and a compulsive braggart but he has no idea how politics works in D.C. As LBJ would put it, he doesn't know how to count votes.

He's made almost nothing but mistakes so far. His obsessive tweeting has cost him any credibility, his healthcare bill blew up, his second attempt at an immigration ban is tied up in the courts and his budget is going to get laughed out of congress. He can't really get anything done and I can't even count the number of times I've heard the phrase "self-inflicted wound" uttered in regard to something Trump's done.
