Flashback: Axelrod called Bush 'out of touch' for playing golf in bad economy

Video from 1994 has surfaced of David Axelrod, President Obama's
chief campaign strategist, calling former President George H.W. Bush
"out of touch" for "tastelessly" playing golf while trying to convince
voters that the economy is improving.

"Bush tastelessly did it, often from the ninth hole, and from the cigar boat and other places," Axelrod said.

Added the adviser: "The impression you got was that he was out of touch."

Throughout his presidency, Obama has been known to hit the links nearly every week.

Axelrod explained in the 1994 interview that if "you cite these
statistics that say the economy is improving, you almost do political
damage to yourself."

"If you stand up and claim great progress, you are only frustrating this alienated middle class more," he said.

I cannot imagine any mature adult thinking person believing the President's personal handlers would ever let any photo-op with the President holding a book upside-down. It ain't gonna happen.

Years ago when this fake picture was first created, I have to confess that I suckered into it too. That was at a time before I had started to become aware of how much faked photography was being passed around the internet. I guess it's just that an old man like me had lived for so long before this technology was available, let alone the widespread use of it, that I was still living with that old axiom about "seeing is believing".
But of course now "seeing is believing" has gone totally by the wayside and photoshop has us all now in the era of "seeing is not believing" so I pretty much don't believe what I'm seeing with any photography anymore. lol
