I was thinking a gun shop, pawn shop, or maybe a chop motorcycle shop........I do not know about a living wage, but there sure are a lot of them.

Costco would likely be built someplace entirely inconvenient for us, like Nine Mile Road.   Nice idea, though.

But is Costco actually building brick and mortar stores these days?

How nice, I agree with RealLindaL.

I'm not a shopper. I'm sure it has been a decade or more since I've been to either of our major malls. I go to strip shopping centers or freestanding stores for almost all of what I need or want.

Now I find myself like millions of other shoppers. I buy online. This past Friday I bought a pair of shoes, a citrus zester, a nice electric pepper grinder and a couple other things. I also saw a book I thought a friend would like too. Ordered on Friday from Amazon, they were delivered "free" by Amazon on Sunday. I'm a Prime member and like their movies.

Five years ago I'd have gone to Shoe City and a kitchen supply store here in town. Is that good or bad? I'm not sure, I did see where Amazon is hiring 10,000 more employees.

Well I think we need another mattress store.

Yes they built brick and mortar most times. There was one planned once upon a time, 10 years ago I believe behind Dillard's at Cordova Mall. They pulled the plans due to the downturn in the economy. Mobile petitioned for one and got one. You have to have more than the 1600 or so signature's than on this petition.

You can't beat their fresh bakery and meats, so far above Sam's.

I bought a pair of shoes online a couple years ago left foot was one size bigger than the right. I have bought some clothes online and not been satisfied. When I buy online it's usually something I cannot get locally.

I have had the opposite experience. I have bought Lands End shirts for many years and have never been disappointed. Sometimes they have free monogramming which makes a shirt look really sharp. I've never bought shoes on line but, I buy the same brand and size each time. They're perfect.

I bought a saddle online, fairly expensive and it too fit perfectly and was everything I wanted.

Oh, you're a horseback rider!? Cool. Love riding and used to be pretty good but it's been decades, sad to say. Or did you mean a motorcycle saddle?

I, too, am a regular online shopper (our closet is filled with Lands' End, Eddie Bauer, and J. Jill) and for the most part have had good experiences, with any very occasional problems rapidly resolved.

I also find terrific bargains on eBay on everything from dental floss to jewelry and, again, have found most sellers willing to bend over backwards if anything is not satisfactory, which happens very rarely. I especially love the permanent search feature which allows you to enter the description of something you're looking for but haven't found on the site yet, and eBay will send emails any time an item pops up that seems to be a match. This can sometimes take quite a while, especially, of course, for hard-to-find items, but it's great when just what you're looking for hits your Inbox.

I'm not a horse fan. I was bit once when I was nine years old. I was patting its head and talking to her when she bit the bejabbers out of my bicep. At first, the teeth marks were etched in my arm, then I had a circular black bruise that lasted for many months.

In college, we had to have four PE credits. English style horseback riding fit my schedule so I signed up. The first class we were told the ranch had been sold and we had to sign up for something else. I worked full time too so time and day were critical. The only thing at the same time was ice skating...in Miami. In one semester, I became a fairly accomplished figure skater.

I'll have to try that Ebay. There are a couple of things I want that I have not been able to find. Maybe that's a way.

I rode hunters and jumpers as a kid during a phase when I was burnt out on tennis. Great fun... and it got pretty intense when I got into open jumpers. I cleared a 6'9" fence during one show. That'll get your attention... lol. I also rode western working on my great uncles ranch near San Antonio... but didn't find that very interesting. I tried riding bulls a couple of times too... those guys are insane... lol.

I have shopped Land'sEnd since the 90's, LL Bean, and JJill....who knew!

I am just getting into Amazon....went with my daughter yesterday to Belk's for the luggage sale. She wanted a 29" spinner with soft sides. Found one on sale for $189.00. She bought it, got home and checked Amazon. Same suitcase.....2 pieces though for $129.00 and 2 day shipping.

I don't know what Amazon Prime is.

For the record...I love to ride. My cousins had horses and we rode all the time. I can honestly say I have fallen off more times than I climbed off.  We rode bareback and start laughing and slide right off.
