Great day....shopping, lunch at Hemmingway's, met Chicago Cubs player Addison Russell's grandparent's...very nice couple.  Watched high school varsity girls and boys basketball games tonight. Gulf Breeze vs Catholic.....big rivalry game and Gulf Breeze won both games.

Tomorrow.....6 basketballs.

Sounds nice and right up your alley.

Wish we could like Hemingway's but every time we go we find it (1) significantly overpriced, a tourist trap (i.e., lack of perceived value) and (2) waaay too noisy. Just our opinion, but shared by others we know, including some knowledgeable foodies from Baton Rouge.

Original plan was Casino Beach Bar....45 min wait. My daughter does not like seafood but loves the Cuban Sandwich at Hemingway's and my grandchildren love the fried shrimp there....so Hemmingway's it was.

Actually Hemingway's at least does have a couple of good things on the menu. And the criticisms above apply triply to the Grand Marlin. You could've done worse.

Lol....Grand Marlin is pricy....I just stick with the BBQ Shrimp (gluten free ) and a wedge salad with a spicy Bloody Mary....hold the vodka.

A side note....my niece was the project engineer that built the Grand Marlin.

Well, the building looks nice enough but we don't waste our money there. A lot of people swear by it but we think it's just plain pretentious.

Beautiful location...and the food is pricy but it is very good. My kids love it.

There's a difference between pricey and a rip-off. We are more than willing to pay for top quality and nice views, but we don't want to eat like birds, either. Servings over the years at TGM have gotten smaller and smaller, while prices most certainly haven't. And c'mon, unless anything's changed they won't even give you some bread or a basket of crackers if you're very hungry while you wait for the (slow) service of your meal. I asked about that once and the server told me the chef "doesn't want people spoiling their appetite" with bread. Excuse me?? Who made the chef the food police of me?? No, it's just plain cheap. Server told me if I wanted one small piece of French bread while I waited it would cost me $2.50. Give me a friggin' break.

Like I said, tourist trap. Glad you like it, but we don't enjoy spending our money there, when there are so many other places in the area with excellent food who seek to satisfy rather than rip off their customers.
