been having trouble with my mail for over a month

I can't help you with your topic, PPCA, but I would like to bring-up our own problems with the mail.

My wife recently started a feud with our postman. She noticed that our mailbox had been struck by a bumper. We live on a cul-de-sac, and cars that park in front of our house typically park nose-in. However, our mailbox was struck from the side; the side the postman approaches when he delivers our mail. We said nothing, but wifey put a cinder block with a clay flowerpot on it in front of out mailbox, by the curb. A few days after this, she noticed that our mailbox had been struck again; not only, but the cinder block had been knock over, along with the flowerpot.

My wife called the Myrtle Grove post office to complain about our postman hitting out mailbox with the bumper of his delivery vehicle when he delivers our mail.

A few days after this, a nasty-gram from the postman was left on top of the mail inside our mailbox!!! Razz

Not to be deterred, my wife called the post office back and read the note to a manager there, who apologized and promised to counsel the mailman.

We had two years of mail hell when our mailman from twenty years retired from my office route. I always enjoyed handing him a twenty for Christmas, but after he retired we had temporary assigned people on our route and the people in the building were in mail hell as things were not getting delivered or somebody two blocks over would call saying they had somebody in the buildings mail. It was a joke trying to get any kind of resolution. The postmaster in Milton is not my favorite person, and I will not go into the specifics, but they could care less about solving problems, and they give contradictory information and really are not accountable to anyone.

Speaking of PM's my wife went down to talk with him/her two weeks ago they were gone for the day, spoke with a supervisor and she said she'd talk with our mailman. Well we haven't had the same one for a year or two. I called Tuesday and PM was off for the day. Called today he or she was again gone, but spoke in length to some guy who tried to tell me that all are creditor's must have changed the bar code you see at top or bottom of envelope. Also he put me on hold and went to speak with the supervisor of the mailman and came back and said she questioned our mailman and said no problem delivering our mail but didn't know if we were getting what we were looking for. Well we are not receiving 95% of our monthly bills and this started about 8 weeks ago. I am going to call and fill out an online complaint with the postal inspector's.

We used to get one mailperson who had the route for years. All we get now is temps who screw up. Again, I do not even want to get into the specifics with the Milton Post Office, and the Postmaster there. They are untouchable, and I have learned not to get excited or let them know their passive aggressive behavior is going to get a rise, because the guy I share office space with took it up the flagpole and found out the local PM have the final say, and nobody is going to cross them because all that would do is encourage more complaints. When we had a mailman who knew his route and how important his delivery was to a business, they took professional pride. The temps are not intentionally trying to screw up, but they just do not know the routes and make mistakes.

Z-man, can you be 100% sure the postman is at fault?  Our mailbox has been knocked over and/or damaged several times since we've lived here, and we're pretty certain it's vandals, especially when others in the neighborhood have suffered the same damage the same night.   We've since replaced the mailbox with a much sturdier type, and so far so good, but there are no guarantees.

Just saying...

Ppaca, to answer your original question, no, we have not yet received our Social Security payment info for 2017.

When I was a kid, my parents built a house in a new subdivision and for about three years the road just dead ended in front of their house. When people would turn around, they continually took out our mailbox. Well, one suspension spring picked up from the junkyard and welding the same to a heavy duty plate meant that a car could completely run over the mailbox, but it would spring right back up. The box itself over time looked like somebody beat it up with a baseball bat, but there were no more busted mailbox.

Linda, we don't see vandals in our neighborhood and we live on a cul-de-sac where vehicles normally do not speed. The mark on the mailbox is about the same height as the bumper of one of those mail-jeeps. Plus, it was unprecedented having the mailman leave a nastygram in our mailbox, telling us he would not "do us any favors."

Another postal worker, a lady who was my daughter's girl scout leader when she was about 8 years old occasionally fills-in on our postal route. This lady always brings our mail to the front door and rings the bell so she can give my wife a hug. Big difference in both performance and attitude!

Certainly agree that was not the proper way for the postman to react.

Thanks Linda for answering the question.

Z if I were you I'd file a complaint with postal inspectors, don't even bother with your local PO just go over their heads. I remember when I worked for the PO back in the 70's when a postal inspector was in the building no one did no wrong and they'd only be in the building doing an investigation of stolen mail or if someone had a complaint. You can do this online.

Decades ago I ordered a dozen books as gifts. They were promised to arrive before Christmas. Christmas came and went, no book, no response. I filed a complaint with the Postal Inspector and nothing for a couple of weeks. Then came the 12 books, no reason was given. Then came another dozen books and a few days later another dozen. I called the publisher and they said KEEP THEM.

To this day, I have no clue what happened behind the scenes.

I've had a PO Box for 40 years, the same one. I can't ever recall not getting any piece of mail I was expecting.
