BoF, the forum information section says you are 37. Man, how I remember that year. Drink it up, enjoy, and realize you are very young and have A LOT of life ahead. Enjoy! And thanks for putting up with all the shenanigans around here. It's a good forum. Maybe minus a couple of mindsets. Laughing Laughing

I'm surprised that you all noticed. I have a four day weekend, and I'm going to be cooking today. Hopefully playing tennis and cooking some more for the rest of the weekend. My wife thought I was crazy when I said I just wanted to cook for my birthday, but that's what I like to do. I'm serving grilled beef filet, asparagus, and mash.

Since you all brought it up, I'll have to post some pics of my finished product later tonight.

I am glad you enjoy cooking. I wish I had continued, but I took so much grief from the wife and kids on my concoctions, I have permanently been banned from the kitchen. On your birthday you should do what you enjoy. I plan to have sex with twenty something women on my birthday.......but again.....I do enjoy fantasy.

Happy birthday weekend.

There's some really good tennis at Roger Scott... they're hosting a futures tournament and there are some local players in it.

Be sure and post your pictures....I love grilled veggies. Especially mushrooms.

There were local players in it... but it's still fun to watch pros. This is what we called the satellite series.

You won't recognize the names... but it's a shark pool and everybody's hungry.

Happy Birthday, Boards!

I like to cook too.

Tonight it will be grilled tuna, asparagus, and garlic roasted sweet potato wedges.

My wife is on a healthy eating kick, so we are all on a healthy eating kick.

She will be visiting her mother overnight on Saturday.

My son and I will have bratwurst.

I'm currently going through a phase where I'm stringing my raquests every three weeks in order to dial in a perfect string setup.  I always played with a string setup that was cheap and high tension for maximum control and durability.  I generate my own power.  But I recently purchased a re-issue Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 (this is the classic midsize with an 85 inch frame).  No manufacturer makes an 85 in frame anymore because no one can play with it.  I'm currently going through various string setups until I can find one that can generate a little power in such a small frame.  That got me to thinking about my normal string setup in my main Babolat.  I dialed my tension back a bit and switched from a synthetic gut to a poly in the Babolat and now I'm unstoppable.  Makes me wish I had considered string earlier.

But with all that said, the only leagues they have for males at Roger Scott are 55+.  They do have some pay as you go cardio and skill clinics though.  I'm mainly playing doubles now with co-workers and people around town and slowly getting back to a point where I can play singles tourneys.

My first year in college I played with a wooden racket. Lol... sad but true. But switched to that pro staff a few years later and played with it for nearly ten years... great racket. I played with very low tension gut tho.

I played with that same Pro Staff in high school between 94 to 96. That's the main reason why I bought it once I saw they did a re-issue. It won't be my main racquet, but I'll pull it out of the bag once every few weeks just to keep me honest on my strokes.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier; now the day is almost done.  But happy belated birthday, Boards!  I wish you many, many more, all filled with good health, peace, and happiness.

Well that looks great. Next time you grill or roast asparagus, sprinkle with a little shredded Parmesan cheese.

 Feel better today.

The plating looks nice but my steaks turned out a bit on the rare side. Let's say rarer than most people like. I had my grill firing at 700 degrees. I grilled those steaks for a solid 15 minutes. I was using an instant read temp and I was amazed that they just weren't cooking. After 15 minutes I said "My thermometer must be broken" so I pulled the steaks. We're all siting around and I cut in to mine and it is blue, very very rare. I immediately pictured Gordan Ramsay "It's fucking RAW!!!" in my head. The parents loved it though. Of course, they would never tell me if it was bad.

The juices look like it is perfect. If too rare...after removing cover the filets with foil and allow to rest.

Fortunately my wife makes amazing mashed potatoes. I cooked that asparagus in chicken broth and butter. And there is a Hawaiian role chilling in the background there. It worked out in the end.

And I should add, everyone ate the steak. But damn was it rare.

Looks like a nice cut of meat.

Did you allow it to reach room temp before throwing it on the grill?

One of the most important steps imo.
