Our area is now so dry that NOAA has issued a fire alert. If your neighbors set fire to any brush piles or yard debris, they are not only polluting the air in your neighborhood, they are endangering themselves, their property, and neighboring properties.

We have some in my neck of the woods who persistently burn yard debris. We called Escambia-County Code Enforcement on one recently. The smoky-air aggravates my wife's asthma and my allergies. It always seems to happen on days when you can open your house to fresh-air, too.

I am really fed up with the control burns on Garcon Point. They were arbitrary and without realistic time frames, and there was always fires a year or two after a control burn. The pollution intentionally done under the guise of fire protection is out of control. Once in twenty years, I get. Once every four years is simply government employment.
