We finally have some cold weather and big winds. We have the grandsons for the weekend and we took the golf cart out to collect branches which have blown down, and pick them up and throw them in the river. When we do this with the granddaughters we hardly get any sticks picked up, but with grandsons, they are trying to pick up huge branches and non stop are putting sticks in the river. An amazing difference in energy levels and work ethic.
The funny thing is our three year old dog never fetches a stick for my wife and I, yet as the boys throw sticks into the river, she goes down and pulls some out of the river and puts them right back where the boys picked them up. We think she thinks she is a human child. She gets so excited when the girls or boys visit, and she starts picking sticks up right with them......except in reverse.
Had to come back in as we saw deer hunters on the other side of the river and sadly a bullet on the river can travel a great distance. We never saw as many dead deers in Al, Ky, Tn, and Il as we saw the last 10 days. I am reading that there was a record corn harvest, and some of these deer have become corn fed and do not taste as gamy as the old bamby burgers.
