I got an invoice from the FDOT for an “Unpaid Toll Violation.” The charge was for $3.25, for a $0.50 toll violation on State Rode 50, outside of Orlando. Tacked onto the $0.50 toll was a $2.75 charge; obviously, the fee for the contractor that extorts money from the public for the FDOT.
Well, I nor my vehicle have been to the Orlando area in years; moreover, the photo they showed me of the license plate was completely illegible and was taken on a dark colored vehicle. My vehicle is white.
I called the FDOT fraud line, and they gave me the phone number to the contractor, located in Atlanta. I called the contractor and they decided to “let me off the hook,” because one of the numbers on the license plate could not be read. The whole friggin’ number could not be read, in my book.
These folks are taking the illegible photos and trolling for revenue. They are picking license plate numbers which might approximate the ones in the illegible photos, and sending out nuisance violations in the hopes that gullible people will pay the fines.
