This is a very entertaining glimpse into what was a rather bizarre event in American history.

The photo will give you a clue to the film's title.

In case you aren't familiar with this story,  one day Elvis showed up unannounced at the White House gate requesting to see the President.
He had a handwritten letter for the President offering to become a secret federal agent.

Here's the actual letter (which is difficult to read because of the handwriting).  Notice ALL of Elvis' personal phone numbers are at the bottom...

Here's an easy to read transcript of the letter...

By the way, that photo in the first post is the most requested image of any kind in the history of the National Archives.

It was already a TV movie from about 20 years ago. I like that they had the actor who played the corrupt warden in Shawshank Redemption as Nixon.

No wonder Trump will sweep the South.

I wonder if anyone other than Nixon shook the hand of both Elvis and Mao.

That's a good question. Interestingly I didn't know that Elvis was such an anti-communist until this. Or that he thought the Beatles were communists. lol

p.s. John Lennon maybe. But not the others, they all proved to be staunch capitalists. lol

Goes right along with my theory that Elvis didn't die. Hechecked out of society but actually went undercover.

I think this is also what happened to Michael Jackson.

Cool

People still see him occasionally at a Burger King in Cleveland.

Off topic, but fits the era:

I've always loved this lady...and this song. And I'm reading criticism of her on FB for saying she'd leave the country if Trump...somehow...got elected.
