Dang.........

Numbers 2, 3 and 4 got upset yesterday.....

Not only, Clemson (#2) and Michigan (#3) were upset by unranked Pittsburgh and Iowa, respectively; by just 1 point each! The score was wider in #20 USC's upset of #4 Washington.

Hard game. We watched from a sports bar in Santa Monica. Sunset over the Pacific certainly helped heal the wound.

Back home now. I have to say, I love LA. Wish Bob was here to talk about it. We had a convo back in the spring about his travels there. It's a great place.

Glad the pain was eased by the Pacific sunset.

I grew up in California (Bakersfield). I finished my last two years of undergraduate college at Cal State Long Beach (LA County), and then was stationed in Orange County for many years when I was in the Marine Corps.

California is a great place to visit, but you would not want to live under their taxation, high cost of living, and ultra-high real estate prices. Plus, Californians for some reason have to keep up with the Jonses on material things. It is a habit that infests all of them, really.

I changed my State of residency to Florida when I got stationed here for three years in 1981. When I returned to California in 1984, the State pursued me for taxes I no longer owed them.

My son, his fiancé, and several of their friends live and work in LA. They said they can visibly see, in most cases, where the taxes go. Housing is expensive but groceries, etc seem to be in line with most things I buy at the grocery store. As far as keeping up, I think that's a baby boomer thing. The millennials are not so into that. They are better for it too.

Ohio State does not look like a playoff team today in the first half against Michigan State. Not impressed at all.

Msu has been on track the last few weeks. Injuries and youth combined for a terrible start.

Ohio State with their Tim Tebow running QB offense is so easy to dominate weaker teams, but is not a good system against talented defensive players who stay home and have the speed and power to stuff a running QB. I just thought Ohio State had more of a passing game. I know it is windy, but they have shown nothing. Michigan State can not stop the running QB.

Ohio State squeaks one out, and I honestly do not see Ohio State as number 2 in the polls. They could have easily been blown out of this game except for three key turnovers. Not impressed at all.

Alabama for being first in the polls almost all year does not look like an undefeated team against Auburn. Ohio State and Alabama the one two just simply look sloppy to me.

Harbaugh has become a winey little bitch.......I am ashamed that he was a Bear.......blaming the officials for a call which was close, where you want entry into the championship series to be determined by a replay booth over an inch......he should have stopped them on the play before and they would have been kicking.   What a dick.

A good weekend as we wind down and head toward the BCS championship. Up next is:

Alabama vs Washington
Clemson vs Ohio State

Then the winners to the big show! Sure would love to see Clemson make it all the way. But it's one game at a time. Very Happy

I don't really think Washington is a top 4 team. Vegas odds puts michigan above them.

I would think Michigan deserved it.

Playoff Predictions.....

On Saturday, December 31st, Washington plays Alabama at 2:00 PM CT in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl. Ohio State meets Clemson the same day at 6:00 PM in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl (I thought that one was hosted by Tostitos....?).

My gut feeling says that 'Bama will steam-roll over Washington. I think Ohio State will beat Clemson.

So, my prediction is Alabama and Ohio State will play in the championship game.

The last time Ohio State played against an SEC team in the final game (against UF in 2006), they were beaten badly. Of course, UF was coached by Urban Myer that year.

Anyway, it should be a shootout, with the Tide ultimately prevailing. The two playoff games will not be nearly as exciting, as two hopefuls are clearly eliminated.

I haven't watched any bowl games yet, but will pick up a couple over the next week.

Michigan in the first five minutes do not look like they belong in any bowl game.
