No guilt, no dead bodies, and not a bit concerned about life expectancy. Although Trump started making sense to me.

Too funny.

I think you should've eaten six.

Or maybe four Twinkies and two Hostess Cupcakes (chocolate with cream filling, of course).

For lunch in high school, nearly everyday I would order two slices of pizza, two orders of mashed potatoes with gravy, two packages of Little Debbie Swiss Rolls, and a carton of milk and a Coke.

The cafeteria served really good pizza that was cut into large rectangles.

I would use the pizza as scoops to eat the mashed potatoes and down it with the milk.

Then I'd have the Swiss Rolls and Coke for dessert.

Made for some seriously explosive belches.

Youth is a wonderful thing.

And you were probably skinny as a rail, right? Damned male metabolism.

I would kill to go back to my 8th grade lunchroom for a meal of hamburger-gravy on rice pilaf with raisin-batter-bread served as desert. I'd kill for it! It cost $0.30 to eat (the year was 1966).

Haven't posted in forever but Mr. Oats' Twinkie thread inspired me . . . when I was in the either the 5th or 6th grade I began dramatically losing weight and my parents initial concern was I refused to eat my supper but elected to try and fool them by tearing up my bread into pieces and hiding them under the edge of my plate and then disturb all my food to look like I had actually eaten. My weight fell to about 50 lbs . . . . my oldest brother (by 11 years) had a lot of influence on me and tried mashing up bananas then adding a twinkie mashed up followed by a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter along with a glass of cold milk! I did try it and liked it but was eventually diagnosed with histoplasmosis and after following treatment had a full recovery but although I would not consume such fair today I can say it remains a tasty memory.

Knot!!  Good to hear from you -- have missed you.  House on the market yet and/or sold?

So glad they figured out your histoplasmosis and were able to treat and cure you.   Reading about it, sounds like scary stuff.  But wow, bird or bat droppings?????   Guess I shouldn't ask.  LOL

Hope you'll stay in touch....

6'1" and 180 lbs as a senior.

Didn't get any longer but did put on about 20 lbs.

I'd love to get back to 185, but I'm starting to doubt that'll ever happen.

Thanks Linda, the house is officially listed but no offers as yet but we are prepared to stay the course so we shall see. I have no clue where I got the histo but I survived it. I'll drop in occasionally but we have been gone since mid June and am missing my friends as well as the lifestyle!

Congratulations.

Have you moved back to Kentucky on a permanent basis?

If so, I envy you.

It will soon be one of the most beautiful places to live on the planet ...

... then winter ...

... then again, one of the most beautiful places to live on the planet.

SOLD!!!!

Congratulations. It is tougher to sell at end of the season, and you were very fortunate, but unlike some of my neighbors who bought at the top, you have owned long enough to market your property at a reasonable price.

Now keep telling everybody that you are moving to KY, but we both know you are smart enough to move, so tell them the truth.....you are moving to Illinois.

Sincere thanks to all . . . . although we were very fortunate to get very close to our asking price I still have a KNOT (no pun intended) in my stomach. I love it here so much BUT it is a cultural shock somewhat and I worry how well I will adjust but no complaints only simply sharing my feeling of conflict. I won't elaborate other than to say I am leaving friends (real friends) and many have gotten emotional with both my wife and myself inflicting emotional distress on both of us . . . . . it is proving to be more of a challenge that either of us expected . . .

I still visit the forum and little has changed . . .hang in everyone!

Better tell the buyers to get insurance before anything else. Once 99L is named they won't be able to get it.

Belated congrats, Knot! I'm not at all surprised that you got "very close" to your asking price; things are still jumping here on the beach.
You honor us by sharing your feelings about the relocation, and I'm so sorry for the emotional stress this situation has occasioned. Surely your friends wouldn't want their expressions of missing you or whatever to cause you such distress (would they??), but easy for me to say and of course I don't know the whole story.
In any case, it surely can't be easy. Hang in there yourself, kiddo. I fully expect that by this time next year (sooner even better!) you'll be reporting all is well.
And hey, with a tropical entity possibly about to become a potential threat here, you can thank your lucky stars you don't have to deal with THAT any more!!
All the best in your new home,
LL

Thank you Linda . . . . I think the emotional conflict is my own more than my friends to be honest so perhaps I am being a bit dramatic. Having been on the island since 1972 and building this house in 1983 AND serving our community (the island) in a multitude of capacities my roots are deep but the time is neigh and deserves responsible action (get out) I remain troubled but life's experiences tell me I have taken positive action and am prepared to adjust accordingly. We will have some months of before the transition is complete but I am taking this one step at a time and it will be fine in the end. And yes it is a relief to not fret over tropical disturbances anymore . . . . my maintenance man caught a 4 lb flounder off my dock yesterday . . . . . grrrrrr oh yea things I will miss.
All the best in your new home,
LL

Knot, if you're still reading, I just wonder if you could briefly explain why leaving the island -- to "get out" -- is "responsible action."
