Obama’s ‘Minimal’ World Leadership Brings Jimmy Carter, Chris Christie Together

Ken McIntyre / @KenMac55 / July 01, 2015

“I can’t think of many nations where we have a better relationship than we did when [Obama] took over,” Jimmy Carter says.

In a rare alignment of two very different politicians, Jimmy Carter and Chris Christie agree in their belief that America is less respected in the world than it was when President Obama took office in 2009.

Christie, the two-term New Jersey governor, zinged Obama on foreign policy in some of the most well-received lines of his announcement Tuesday morning that he will seek the Republican nomination for president.

“After seven years I heard the president of the United States say the other day that the world respects America more because of his leadership,” Christie said. “This convinces me it is the final confirmation that President Obama lives in his own world, not in our world.”

It was a big applause line.

Semi-demented poster Markle likes to knock others when they quote from obscure sources...... Yet he himself is quick to use an obscure blog if this suits his own propaganda... LOL!

Was this a kick in the head to republicans?

Besides, I suspect you don't really care or ever agreed with anything President Carter ever said or thought.

You, and the other Progressive's here most frequently use an obscure site to quote an OPINION piece.

Mine is a factual quote. Did Jimmy Carter make the statement or did he NOT?

I don't. But when EVEN President Carter admits to seeing the failure, you must admit it is hard to ignore.

The source in the OP only mentioned a portion of Jimmy Carter's "speech" that was given one week prior to the Christie remark

An odd comparison, I'd say, to come to the conclusion they are on the same page in blaming President Obama.

I think if  you read this full account of what former President Carter said - it's not a complete union of thought for he and the NJ Governor.

Former President Carter said this in the 2007 Washington Post Article that Nadalfan posted a link to, which was NOT an opinion piece [it came from the Associated Press]:

"I think as far as the adverse impact on the nation around the world, this administration has been the worst in history," Carter said. "The overt reversal of America's basic values as expressed by previous administrations . . . has been the most disturbing to me."

Carter said that Bush's policy of preemptive war, "where we go to war with another nation militarily, even though our own security is not directly threatened," was "a radical departure from all previous administration policies."

Let's not forget that the title of that article was:

Bush Is 'the Worst in History' In Foreign Relations, Carter Says

Mine is also a factual quote.  Did Jimmy Carter make the statement or did he NOT?
