His seemingly simple yet brilliant policy proposal to place a small tax on Wall Street transactions would impact the computer churning that causes the street to fluctuate too much.

Putting the money into badly needed infrastructure improvements = JOBS.

Break up the big banks

Glass-Steagall rules reinstatement

O’Malley is talking about some of the same things.

Other candidates should take notice…..

President Jackson broke up the Bank of the United States and removed government deposits from the bank and handed them off to his cronies. The money was mismanaged along with other parts of the financial economy leading to the depression that faced President Van Buren when he took office.
Money corrupts people. Power corrupts people. When you have both of those combined it doesn't matter who has control of the money. There's going to be a goatrope somewhere.

Here's an elementary version for you to read and remember:

So irrelevant . . .

Very relevant (and analogous) as it pertains to what Bernie wants to do with the financial sector and the Fed.

It is not a clean analogy, but you are correct that reckless bank behavior has harmed this nation and at different times in our history, we have taken actions to address how to best utilize banking and wall street without harming the nation.  Bernie's ideas are dead cinch correct, and might be a consensus builder across political parties as we seek a way to raise revenues and reduce bad behavior on Wall Street and amongst the bankers.

I can easily imagine a true grassroots movement emerging behind Senator Sanders. The financial disaster we are just coming out of was just bubbling to the surface at the time of the '08 presidential election. Now we've had several years to experience the effects of the Great Recession and people are becoming more and more aware of the wealth gap and how the system is rigged against the middle-class.

I think Sanders has appeal across many groups. It would not surprise me to see yet another relatively unknown senator snatch the nomination from Hillary. We can only hope. In his interview today on the Diane Rehm Show he said he was running for the Democratic Presidential nomination and would not run as a third party candidate in the event he did not secure the nomination.
