The economy is crumbling. The situation is turning more hopeless by the hour. The more government gets involved, the worse it gets. Coincidence?

This time the results are going to be dramatically worse than 1929. This time we are facing The Greatest Depression ever.

Why? Because The Great Depression had NONE of the structural, economic, and social problems, nor the massive obligations we are now facing. Read the facts:

In 1929 America was not $16 trillion in debt, plus facing over $100 trillion in unfunded liabilities. That’s over $360,000 in debt per citizen.

In 1929, most of our states were not bankrupt, insolvent and dependent on federal government handouts to survive. One county (Cook County which includes Chicago, Illinois) now owes over $108 billion in debt (the biggest part of it in unfunded government employee pensions).

In 1929, we did not have 21 million government employees with bloated salaries, obscene pensions, and free health care for life. Today 1 out of 5 federal employees earn over $100,000.

Today, 77,000 federal employees earn more than the governors of their states.

Staggering numbers of federal government employees retire at a young age with $100,000 pensions for life.

Unfortunately on the state and local levels it’s even worse. There is now nearly $4 trillion in unfunded pension liabilities for state government employees.

Protected by their unions and the politicians they elect, government employees are bankrupting America. In Illinois there are retired government employees making over $425,000 per year.

No one could have imagined any of this in 1929. There is no possible way to pay these bills moving forward.

the only person that would've "done something" was marginalized by the media... depicted as a crackpot by his own party... and called an extreme radical and dangerous by the other party. we don't want grown up common sense solutions... we want fairy tales and academic/ideologic delusions. it's ok tho... there are larger powers than our govt... i suspect that this country has been designed to fail for over 100 years... progressively.

I read this article yesterday:

Shhh.... It's Even Worse Than The Great Depression

http://acrossthestreetnet.wordpress.com/2012/08/19/shhhh-its-even-worse-than-the-great-depression/

"...No matter what color Kool-aid you prefer, a Harvard Law School graduate who wipes his ass with the constitution will occupy the White House until 2016. Any flavor difference you think you detect is artificial. Neither party has any intention of balancing the budget or stopping the generational rape of America. They exist only to give you the illusion of choice..."

....So true... Congressman Paul might have given the Republicans a chance to win in November.... He might have steered our ship away from the shoals, too. As the article I posted above states, neither Obama nor Romney have what it takes to keep us from sinking.

Dr. Ron Paul is not a Republican, he is a self professed Libertarian. Dr. Paul is as much a Republican as Bernie Sanders is an Independent or Democrat.

Dr. Paul has a few good economic ideas but his other beliefs are off the wall.

The only reason some Democrats feign support for Dr. Paul is because they realize he is the only candidate President Barack Hussein Obama.

The economy will begin to turn around as the election of Mitt Romney become more and more obvious and the dark cloud of President Barack Hussein Obama begins to clear.

Markle,

When one is always Barack Hussein Obama. And another one always William Jefferson Clinton. Why is the new one not Willard Mitt Romney?

The reason for that marginalization was twofold: 1) It's out of step with the Republican platform of reversing Robin Hood, and 2) the man has some good ideas, but if you put them all together they spell disaster. Audit the Fed? Of course. Even dissolve the Fed. Hell, yeah. But try to return to the gold standard? That's just nuts.

It appears that the Progressives are starting to change their tune about the November elections. Apparently the DailyKOS has give out new talking points to cover themselves. Now they want voters to believe that there is no difference between Mitt Romney and President Barack Hussein Obama.

Although I do not see were Gov. Romney has denigrated our Constitution as has President Obama.

Since as you know I get all my ideas from the daily kos, I can verify that. We liberal socialists at the daily kos now believe there is no difference between Barack Obama and Willard Mitt Romney.

That way Progressives won't get their panties in a twist by my not showing the utmost respect for their members who were or are President of the United States. Isn't that far better than calling President Obama or Clinton foul names? You know, like Progressives. I don't intend to lower myself to their level.

I know, markle. You really believe that when someone does not have all the same ideas as you do, then that automatically makes him a liberal progressive who gets his ideas from the daily kos.
In your mind, a person either has to believe as you do or that person is automatically an obama lover/democrat lover/big government lover/socialist.
In your mind there can be no other ideas.

Are you JOKING? Our Constitution was shredded by George W. Bush et al. Please explain to me, Markle, why Mitt Romney isn't touting former President Bush on the campaign trail. After all, his economic, domestic and foreign policy advisors are basically the same as Bush's. The GOP platform is privatize, deregulate, and remove the safety net for the poor. Sounds exactly like Bush. So, tell me, anyone...why Willard isn't buddy-buddy with Bush.

Even if Romney is the miracle worker you think he is, for him to have any influence on that will require that his party gain control of both houses of Congress. If not it's just more of the same stalemate it is now and there will be little change.

heres the theory on that, and i agree with it.

mitt doesnt even need to be good, stock market will jump up just because he is not obama, and bussinesses will boom because mitt is a bussiness man and they would feel better about taking risk again in bussineses because they wouldnt think he would pass anti bussiness laws like obama did.

Mitt probably won't be sending his wife, kids, in-laws, etc... all over the globe for vacations and parties on tax payer dollars like the current president...

It'll be interesting to see if that actually happens. Let's try to remember this thread at that time and discuss it.

Dear God, you can't even spell "business". Anti-business laws? What are those? The ones that keep the wolves at bay? You don't have a clue what you're talking about. It's like no one affiliated with the R's even remembers what Bush did. Why do you think he's not a big part of the festivities in Tampa? It is completely ridiculous how incredibly naive and just plain stupid people can be.
